Sorry everyone. I know this subject has been discussed TO DEATH.

I usually just lurk because I’m not that outgoing and don’t think I really have to much to say that someone hasn’t already said. By the the time I think of something witty to say and get it in there one of you guys not only responds to what I’m trying to respond to but with something much better than I had to say so I just usually read and keep my mouth shut. However. I’ve been really really really fighting the urge to buy a new 44” tool box from Harbor Freight.

Just to put it all out there I’m going to go Full Monte. I already have the older one with the a side bode on either side of it. The ONLY reason I want the new one is because it’s deeper.

I have the Hansen socket trays from 1/2” down to 1/4” drive, metric and standard and because of this I’ve found and bought every ding dang socket I would need to fill those damn trays up (you down with OCD, yeah you know me).

My dilemma is...right now I can get one for $399 if I pick it up in the store. Is that the lowest they go?

My better half wants my old one which is frick’n awesome!!! and we have room for another one. She doesn’t care about the depth. It’s just a matter of the price because I’m a tight@$$ when it comes to a “I want” as apposed to a “I need”.

Hope the this makes sense. Any input is welcome.

Great value! I have 3 of the old 44s and they were great. 4 more inches would make them even better.

You’re both right. Been fighting the desire for a while now. Just didn’t want to buy it then see it $10 cheaper two weeks later.

I know that’s really REALLY STUPID. Ten bucks! This is the lowest I can remember them being but just watch, I’ll go ahead and bite the bullet and get a new 44” and watch, in January they’ll discontinue the 44” tool chest and start selling the 56(?)” for the price of the 44”.

Stupid way to look at it, would be just my luck though.

But back to the reason I asked the question originally. $399 is the cheapest I can remember ever seeing the 44” tool chest. Is there any other time of year it’s cheaper than this?

My only complaint about the original US General 44" boxes was the 18" drawer depth. The extra 4" makes them almost perfect for home use.

$399 is the lowest they've been since August. No coupon history prior to that. I can't imagine there being a lower price offered.

I bought a blue one on pre-sale... should have it in a few weeks. I have another thread on how I'm going to be shuffling from other US General boxes.

The top 44" chest has a coupon for $270. I still think I'm going to throw a 26" on top of mine. I really like the drawer layout of the 26" top chest. Decisions, decisions...

I put a 26 on the top of my 44. Both series 2. I put their power strip on the side of the 26 and use the open space for my battery chargers.

I am "upgrading" from the Series 2 26" cabinet/chest. I've grown to really like the 26" chest like you, I'm leaning towards the 26" on top of the 44".
