Harbor Freight 56" Chest and Cabinet Stacking

I've searched around but can't find anything and the owner's manual of the chest says to consult the owner's manual of the cabinet for final assembly if stacking the top chest on the bottom cabinet. The cabinet assembly instructions say nothing.

Do you somehow bolt these two together? I have 4 12mm 8.8 bolts that were in the same bag as the Allen's for the cabinet handles and thought these might be used to attach them but I can't find any mounting holes after removing the drawers.

I'd like to do it now before I start loading the boxes with tools if there is something I ought to attach.

Thank you,

I don't know if this applies to the HF box however you may want to lean it back and look for any captive nuts on the underside of the top box and or remove the liner from the top of the bottom box and look for holes that should align with the top box.

If none exist take out the drawers drill through both boxes and bolt em together.

Just stack them, dont even bother bolting them together.

Might not be a bad idea to bolt them together if your moving your box around multiple times a day, even then i wouldnt bother.

Thanks! While it sounds like it's a good idea to bolt them together, I don't have to. Still, you wonder what the extra bolts are used for.

They don't bolt together and the top doesn't fit in the lip of the bottom box. Just a out drives me nuts. :dunno:

I talked to HF's product support guy about this. He said the chest is meant to only be stacked. He added that any hole-drilling would void the warranty.

I wouldn't worry about getting the extra bolts. my hf 5 drawer shop cart came with ( 2 ) complete sets of bolts for assembly. I got plenty of those 13mm now . LOL. Probably a little lack of packaging control at the factory.

One Chinese man to another Chinese man....

"Let's throw in a few extra bolts with each box that have no purpose. That will drive them nuts."

Passing pranksters have been known to play the same trick when they spot a neighbour's car being worked on.
