Harbor Freight 56 Roller Cabinet

Sorry guys, I searched other threads and couldn't find what I was looking for.

Anyways, I've been looking at getting the HF 56" roller cabinet (and top box), and it's currently $799 in the store on their "Fire Sale". But I found this ad today, listing it for $699...

My question is; Does anyone know if this coupon is internet sales only, or can it be redeemed at the store?

I visited the new store close to the house today, and scoped this combo out for about a half-hour. I think I'm going to get it, but just want the best deal possible, of course. That $100 coupon would more than pay for the 100' hose reel I want too.

About 6 years ago, I bought the 44" cabinet, the top chest and two side cabinets when they were on sale, and stacked it all with a 20% off coupon. But that was before the tightened up on the coupons. Most of the coupons back then said in small print, that it excluded toolboxes, but most cashiers were unaware... or just didn't care.

I'm pretty sure they all know now about no coupons on tool boxes but as for the other sheet all coupons are good in store or online.

Yeah, I called the store (surprised, they're open until 8pm!), and the guy said that's a good coupon number, and it will be $699. While surfing around, I found a couple other coupons for it, at different prices. Just seems odd that they have all these coupons floating around, for different prices on the same thing.

Looks like I'll be there bright and early tomorrow. But now I'm just wondering if I should hold off on the matching top box for it, to see if they come up with a better deal on it, in the next few weeks.

Its a great box, I've had mine for a few weeks now and just finished up making it a custom top hutch.

I was able to get the 20% coupon to work and ended up buying mine for the insane price of $639.99.

I was in shock that they took it!

Napa Real Deals has a 2 piece 41" combo made by Homak for $739. Despite all the good reviews, I personally would never pay that much money for anything from HF. The Homak boxes are made in the USA, come with 5 year warranties, and have a reputation you can trust. Its smaller than the HF I know, but with the top chest offers more storage space. Guys, thanks for the info, but I was never questioning the quality or review of the HF 56" box, just the pricing and coupon situation. Didn't ask for any commentary on US vs China, or HF vs other suppliers. Please keep on topic.

Like I said in my original post, I already have the 44" box and have been very happy with it for quite some time, so no question of quality. I've just outgrown it and need something larger. So I'm also not interested in buying one smaller, regardless of manufacturer or supplier.

I looked at them when I was in Napa the other day. Not that impressed. Not bad I'd say, but I'd bet they're no better than the US General Pro boxes, which BTW are made by Torin. I've had my 44 and 56 for several years at work with no issues, they are holding up fine. I did like the blue a lot better than the standard ,everywhere you go you see it ."red".

Just go with the 72" like I did
Its cheaper than a top and bottom 56 and you could always put keep the 44 top you have and put it on it or buy the 56 top box on it if you outgrow the bottom.
I can get you pictures of how mine is set up if you would like to compare.

stikman56, jlipsky14; Thanks for the info. I know it sounds silly and I wouldn't base my decision solely on color availability, but if items are comparable and there's no other considerable factors, then I'll always choose red. Or paint the item red... I know, I'm goofy that way.

I considered the 72", but i think the 56' will suit me better. And... with a clear top, it would just turn into a catch-all, like most other flat surfaces in my garage. At least with the top box, it'll be full of tools on the top tray too.

Anyways, I just got back and unloaded them both... by myself. Slid them off onto my motorcycle table while it was raised, and then lowered the table. Fortunately, the casters are already installed, so I can just uncrate it, and roll it down on the floor. Hopefully one of my buddies will stop by and I'll con them into helping me raise the top box up on to the roller.

Congrats on a Very nice setup! I have the 72 and 5 drawer cart. Im looking to expand up with a 56 top box for the 72 and a second 5 drawer cart as a welding/plasma cart. Post some pictures once you get it filled up.

I bought the 56 because I've outgrown the 44. I haven't moved the service cart in years, so I'm selling it and the 44. I've also got one of the side boxes (like the one hanging on the 44), mounted under my welding table. Spent a large part of the afternoon moving stuff from the 44 to the 56, but still going to take a couple days to finish everything up. All of this is an effort to minimize floor space and get all the tool storage, in one location. Too much scattered in different tool boxes, and shelves.

Why sell the old boxes? You can never have enough storage even if you don't need it now. With the prices of the HF boxes they are worth keeping around, even after you upgrade. Now if you spent thousands on a box then I understand. For <$400 for a high quality roller cabinet that sucker ain't going anywhere.

Defeats the purpose of having one box for all the tools. And I have the 44 roller cabinet, top box, side box, and the service cart. All of it's going, even with a 30 x 40 garage, I still have to be conscientious of space management. The purpose of the 56, is to minimize how much floor space the boxes currently use, and the shelf space that will be saved by having everything in one box.

At 50 years old, there's not too many more tools I'll ever need, that I don't already have. In fact, I've been going through all my boxes and have realized how many unnecessary duplicates I have. You don't really need three or four of everything.

No.. This was listed a long time ago... I emailed the guy to ask what kind of box it was and the seller just played dumb.. He wouldn't commit to saying it was a snap on or not..

I'll agree there are more than enough of some, but I have more vice grips than that, and I still need more at times.
