Harbor Freight 56" Tool Box Toppers?

Hey guys,

I just got my HF 56" tool chest. Upgrading from a way overstuffed 26" Craftsman box and already wanting more drawers.

I know I saw a couple of posts discussing top boxes for the HF 56" tool chest, but I cannot find them for the life of me now. I thought I remember seeing Menards or Tractory Supply or somewhere similar had a very nice fitting box that was on the cheaper side. What are you guys using for a top box?

I was debating about just buying the HF 44" top box, but I would prefer something that would fit nicer and offer more wider drawers as well.

Let me know what you guys have, pics are always a plus too!

The box is plenty strong enough to handle a box on top. It's way stronger than many other cheap boxes that have a top. I won't be loading it heavy with my tools and will be no where near the weight limit.

One way or another, it's getting some sort of top box.

Check out the masterforce boxes at menards. Can be had in red. Buddy has one and they are great quality. I'd buy one but I'm a snap in junkie- used mostly. His boxes are great.

I just bought 2 72" masterforce boxes for my home garage. Very happy with my purchase. If you look at masterforce take your time and watch the sales. I did for a few months. They seem to have a different box on sale every week and they seem to come back around every two months.

Best I can do...:drool::drool::drool:

I was just coming here to post the same thing. My flyer just arrived a couple mins ago.

Definitely disappointed I bought the Homak box as a topper...oh well, at least the price was pretty similar.

So roughly $1300 (assuming no coupons) for a 56" top and bottom.....

I got coupons in the mail today for a $359 44" bottom and $269 44" top ~$1260 for two 44" top and two 44" bottom boxes Granted its not as deep but how does the square inch of drawer space calculate out price vs space.

At least the 56" 67681 box is 22" deep versus the 44" 68784 at 18" deep.

Just so there is no confusion, the 56" box is 22" deep but the drawers are only 19 1/2" per the manual.

44" box drawers are 16" deep

Ran by the HF Tent sale today. I couldn't resist and brought home the only top cabinet they had in stock. It is much heavier than I thought it was going to be. I think it will be a nice addition to the custom bench/hutch combo I am making.

LOL, Its still in the back of my truck! It was too heavy to move by myself. I am going to try and take the drawers out first and if that doesn't work off to borrow my neighbors lift to get it out! And no, you can't have my address! :)

But I don't have any truck tools...so I must only own cheap tools and junk.

Just remember, you said it.

Its amazing how many members get upset when someone puts down there "tool brand", yet they are the first ones to poke the sleeping dog.

My conclusion? People just enjoy Internet keyboard mashing, how about more pictures and less drama.

Food for thought..

Btw its a good looking setup..wish the drawers where deeper.

I am sure you know...just kidding around (don't let the cat out of the bag, I own a Snap On ratcheting screwdriver). I guess poking the dog isn't a good idea. :lol_hitti

Truth be told, I am just happy that the tools I have chosen do the job I purchased them for and continue to do so in the future. To each their own

They had the top & bottom box on display at the Hempstead, NY store this weekend, looks really nice as a combo. If this box didnt have those annoying spring loaded latches I would probably get it.
