Harbor Freight 6" DA Polisher

I just picked up the DA random orbital polisher. From some other threads I noticed people talking about the "Platinum" name. It seems like that one had either a grey or black handle. Mine has a red handle and no Platinum name on it. Did they change back or is mine an older model? I can't see it being old since I imagine they go through inventory on this pretty quickly.

I just wonder if anything changed on that model recently.

Also, should I get new backing plate or just cut back the velcro? Spending $10-$15 on new backing plate sort of minimizes the cost savings of this polisher.

I just picked one up last week as well and ordered the Astro Pneumatic backing plate on Amazon for it and that combo worked great, used it all weekend to polish up a used car we just got.
