I agree that's a good price at 999.99. But at the regular price I would hold out for a better box.

HaHaHa, when was the last time you saw one of the members here paying full boat for any of the HF boxes. They're almost always on sale, and then they periodically offer coupons for even less (not on the 72" yet, though). I know I didn't pay the regular sale price, and I wasn't even a member here yet. Truth. "Coupon" price is pretty much normal price

For what it's worth, my SO guy has already told me he would give me what I paid for the HF box, if and when, I chose to buy one from him. So for me it's a no loss situation. I still don't see myself ever spending $5K+ on a tool box though. For that kind of money it should come with an engine, trans etc...

Close, but not a perfect fit. If you look at the specs, the Northern is 1/2" longer and about the same shorter in width as the HF box. I had similar problems fitting a used cap on the bed of my PU truck. It's close, but not quite. It can be made to work, but you'll know. OCD would kick in. :willy_nil

oh yea. i had a kobalt 41 on top of a craftsman 40. it was perfect width wise the way it sat on there, but the kobalt top sat over the front edge an inch.

i sold it for as cheap as i bought the new craftsman display. :)
the kobalt was the better box, but at least they match now.

Can't, won't fit...

And...

My Wife just bought me a 56" Roller Cabinet for Christmas...

Being semi-intelligent, I think I'll keep the cabinet my bride bought, for, say, the rest of my life!!!

You will get it in about a week anywhere in the lower 48. It comes from California truck freight.

Web site says out of stock. I am thinking of doing the 56" top and bottom or 44" top and bottom with 2 lockers or 1 locker and end box

I sent the following email to HF customer service and just got this response:

Can you please fill me in on how the purchase of one of the U.S. General Pro Item #61656 72 in. 18 Drawer Industrial Roller Cabinets would work out if I placed an order online today?

http://www.harborfreight.com/72-in-18-drawer-industrial-roller-cabinet-61656.html

The website states:
"Due to overwhelming demand, this item is currently out of stock"

But the website appears to let you go ahead and place an order for the item even though it's out of stock.

1) When will these be shipped to the end buyer? I assume they have to be manufactured and shipped to the US, which will take some time.

We are currently showing a back order date of 5/2/14.

2) If you already have a back log of orders, how far behind are you?

We are not given this information

3) When will payment actually be processed against the buyers credit card?

It will not be charged until it ships.

4) I assume that a back order placed today will be processed at the $999.99 price when the order is filled...right?

It will be processed at the price you ordered it at. So if the price is $999.99 then that is what will be charged.

5) If I buy now, knowing that I'll have to wait a while, can the $89.00 Freight Shipping charge be waived ALONG WITH the lift gate delivery fees?

No, those charges cannot be waived. These charges are what we have to pay the freight company.

Thanks
Wes

Out of stock says...

They've got a winner on their hands...

The 44" and the 56" are winners, too...

If id drop 1400 on a tool box, id defiantly take a good look at stb. I could get a 72 with hutch top cabinet or side locker as options.

I got the April monthly mailer yesterday. The 72" is in it at $999 on sale (that seems to be it's perpetual "sale" price). It doesn't say anything about online sales only in the flyer. However; with the boxes being temporarily sold out and the limited space in the stores, I wouldn't expect to see them for several more months at the earliest.

Well I officially put in my order on the 24th, so with patience, hopefully this will be a nice addition to my new work place. I checked the website today and they updated the out of stock wait time. 90 days until I see this bad boy. This os gonna be the longest three months ever

Can you please post photos of that listing to include the full month of April dates that the price should be good for?

Thanks

It's just the regular monthly flier sent out to anyone on their mailing list. The prices in the flier are good for the entire listed month, but throughout the month there could be coupons issued that have lower prices (sometimes even in the same flier).

The 72 is back at 1499.99 on the website, still with 90 day back order. I placed my order a little over a month ago and got a letter in the mail today saying it will be about 4 weeks until they are shipped out. I can't wait to roll this in my bay!

Interesting...

$ 1,499.99 on the website...

And $ 999.99 in the May flyer...

No coupon, just "on sale" for $ 500.00 off...

Well, mine did arrive today. There was no additional lift gate charge so that was a bonus. The quality is the same as the 56" cabinet so no surprises there. The casters seem beefy but I will be using it a metal frame so I will have to store those until I can think of a future project for them.

It will be nice to have almost 52" in the large single drawer to store sockets etc. I started making a special socket and ratchet insert for the 56" cabinet but now seeing the drawer size I am going to modify my design to accommodate the larger drawer.

This will make a nice work surface for the hutch I am building.

How are you liking your 72" box so far? Ever thought about throwing that 56" top onto the 72" just to see how it looks? I'm thinking about one 72" or would you advise go with the 56" top and bottom? Thanx.

Sorry Tigervuu, didn't see this post until now. I like the 72" box. I have made mine into a hutch with overhead storage, wooden top and slatwall for additional hand tool storage so I have not tried the 56" top box on it. I am in the midst of making some drawer storage for my shop so as soon as I can finish that I will pull together a thread with some pictures.

It would appear that the price has settled at the "Normal Sale Price" of $ 1,199.99...

The original $ 999.99 would appear to have been a "test" the waters price...

They sold out, so the experiment was a success...

They're nice boxes, but me thinks the price has moved them upmarket enough, so that their competition will do better against their rather high pricing...
