Is one better than the other?

Worth getting, or worthless?

I like mine, made out of a semi-truck brake drum and some scrap square tube. No need to bolt it down, and yet easy to move...

The first one looks more stable to use, but I bought the second one because it is on wheels so I can roll it out of the way when I'm not using it.

I've never understood why production grinder stands are so low. I built my own, and built it higher. As already stated, they're stupid simple. An old steel wheel for a base and anything for the upright. Drill a base plate for the grinder itself and you're done. This is a case where heavier is better, and whatever HF sells won't be heavy because weight = expense.

I have the top one. It's very lightly built, wasn't drilled properly so it was a pain in the *** to put together, and did I mention lightly built?

Oh but I've had it for a couple of years and it's held up surprisingly well. I never move it and it just does it's thing, not like it's doing anything difficult.

I've got the bottom one. Nothing special, but on sale, it was too cheap not to buy. If I put any value on my time, I couldn't build one as cheap. It is kinda low though, but it works.

I have 3 of the one on the bottom and have used them for about 5 years. They are fairly sturdy and I have been pleased. One of them holds my saw chain grinder and has made the grinder much more handy than when I mounted it on my bench.

One thing I like is the grinder/stand assembly is very easy to move when necessary. I generally keep them in the corner, but when I need to use one of them, it is very simple to move out where it is handy to use.

I have bought three of the bottom ones from Homier. The first two were for where I worked, where they were bolted solidly to the concrete floor. They made the grinders wonderfully smooth and quiet, and let us use the workbench for working, without all the grinding dust getting all over it.
I have the third one in my cramped garage, not bolted down. If I am doing some heavy grinding and the pedastal starts to "walk", I just put my foot on the base.

I don't care for the top one you posted because it will use more floor space and I don't like the crappy sheet metal stands.

They are both short, I have the bottom one for one grinder, and my other gringer is mounted to my bench. I mounted the stand on a big block of wood I had, I am 6'4", so I like things about 4 feet off the ground.

The first one looks to be of better quality, but it is just a stand, the bottom one is easier to mount to something, with wood lag bolts.

I have two of the bottom one. Both lagged to the floor. One has a grinder, Other a knife sharpner. They are very sturdy, have never thought about them being short. Both in use 5 or so years.

I also made my own, a Spare rim and some Tubing/Welder and your good to go. I have 3 Grinders, but my favorite by far is my $5 sioux. I swear that things runs for 10 minutes after you shut it off, No vibration. Pure Class...
