If I had a house that big, I'd want at least a mile of nothing in every direction.

That's quite the palace.
A Russian billionaire had this 500 foot long yacht built for $400 million. It has like 3 swimming pools onboard, rooms for 50 staff/crew, dozen guests. Must be nice. Sitting in a hot tub on a mega yacht with a Russian supermodel wife.
The sails are computer controlled to maximize the wind's power. Beats burning probably 100 gallons of diesel fuel every 30 minutes. But it also has engines for when the wind is down.

It costs a stamping press, and a coil reel, and a set of dies, and a diemaker, plus an electrician, and a Diesetter and a press operator, plus utilities, and insurance, and wages, and shipping, and spare parts,and......it just goes on and on....
Indeed it does, but every cost you mention, would also be incurred, in a tool factory in China, as well.
No doubt, the costs would be less there, but if they can sell a steel rule at profit for a dollar, and SO needs to charge $47, it's hard to believe the cost to manufacture here, is 47x that of China.

I may be generalizing here, but I find it hard to believe that a guy who lives in a place like that knows what end of a screwdriver to pick up.
Might be nice for a week - call me jealous, but I'd rather be out in the garage, under the hood with a wrench in my hand.
