do there is book for load limit on drawers? 45 lbs or 100 lbs?? i am curious...

The actual manual that came with the cabinets showed higer ratings than the pdf file or specs on the website.

One thing I like are the double set of BB slides on each side of the full width drawer-

Top full width drawer- 121 (double BB rail)
Deep drawers - 110 lbs (double BB rail)
shallow drawers - 88 lbs (single bb rail)
top panel - 1673 lbs

Total 2894 lbs

SCORE !!!!! I called HF yesterday to see if they had their truck unloaded and if any of these boxes were on it. Mentioned to the guy that it'd be nice to have caught them for $299 when that coupon was valid and he told me to get on the internet and print out any coupons I could find and bring them in and talk to the manager and he may be able to hook me up.

I found the coupon for the bottom box for $299 that expired on 11/25/07 and also found a 15% OFF and a 20% OFF coupons. Got to the store and they already had the bottom and top crates up near the door on dollys. I overheard the guy I spoke to on the phone telling the lady at the counter that someone was coming in to buy those boxes and he had already spoken to the manager and it was okay to honor the coupons I would be bringing in. :shocking: So, I went over and spoke to them and he asked what all coupons I had, I showed them and they said that's fine, no problem.

I ened up using the $299 coupon for the bottom box AND stacking the 20% coupon on top of that to get it for $254. The top box was on-sale in their flyer for $296 and they let me use the 15% coupon and get it for $236......ended up walking out with both boxes (and a pack of 100 razor blades) for $522. :bounce:

To say I was tickled would be an understatement. Had I ordered the bottom box from Craftsman to match the top box I already have it would have been $480 shipped to my door (can't buy in stores) and is way less of a box than the HF unit.

My box did wobble when on the garage floor, seems one of the casters wasn't true with the others. I used large diameter fender washers to shim the caster down so the box sits square. Greased all the rails and plan to put all my tools in it today.

Has anyone shot clear on theirs so they'd be shiny?

I wouldn't try that. It looks like a powder coated finish and is very durable. I've only had the box for a few weeks, but put a lot of mileage on it already. It's been hit a few times, scratched in a few palces and has a few scrapes. In all cases, the finish has held up great. The krinkle finish isn't pretty, but the scratches don't show nearly as much as they would on a shiny finish.

I have this box and recently got identical Ranger box. HF box get's annoying with drawers rolling out if you don't close and hold it. Also, that wrinkle finish. Also in my use it didn't get dirty.

So, Ranger seem to be superior but for price of $600 HF doesn't seem to be bad either.

Has anyone used the bottom box/cabinet with a top box of a different brand?

Haven't heard of anyone using the bottom with a different brand 40"+ top box, but I've got the bottom box and side cabinet, with a 26" Craftsman ball bearing stainless chest on top - works great. Eventually, I think I'm going to put a piece of 7/16" thick wood on top of both the bottom chest and side cabinet, so that there is a single flat surface across the top - then I can put another 26" chest on top, side-by-side.

I am currently tring to figure this out. I have an Isko 42" SS box. I got the HF side box but the Isko has no provisions for adding boxes to the sides. The Isko has a flat top on the lower box. I understand you are talking about the top box and not a side box but it seems that different brands seem to miss match alot!

while I'm on this topic, anyone in the Atlanta area that can cut some fairly thick stainless plate for me? (1/8 inch I think)

I'm wondering, is there enough room to drop a 17 deep intermediate box on there?
Most of my cabinets have 17 deep intermediates between them and the 16 deep chests. I thought about replacing one of my cabinets with one of the General HF but I would need to put a 17x26 under the 16x26 chest.

The HF bottom box is 18-1/2 deep I think, actually, both are IIRC.

Well I decided to mount the HF side box onto my SS box today. Drilled a few holes (none in the SS box!), bolted it up with 6 bolts using existing mounting points, drilled a few more holes for the handle and tada..... done. Now I just have to organize everything. The side box is done. It has all of my WW related stuff in it plus one drawer full of spare screwdrivers. I have some of my sockets organized and all of the ratchets and extensions.

I was working with a buddy yesterday. He has all SO tools. I used them for a while and discovered that I do kinda like the full polished wrenches. Would it be worth it to spend the extra money and replace my raised panels a little at a time? I could sell them on eBay and recover some of the cost.

Completely off subject here, but why is everyone pushing the ratcheting end wrenches? They are everywhere! I don't like them much at all. Am I the only one? I just don't get a good feel from them when I use them.

I don't like them, either.

They can be useful from time to time, but have a flimsy feel that I don't care for. I own a few in some common metric and SAE sizes but rarely use them.

Don't mind eschoendorff. He is too busy pinching ******* and taking naked pictures these days. I am too tired right now to search and list those threads, but trust me, they exist.

I have several sets of the Gearwrench type wrenches in both standard & metric shorty's, flex head, combination and box sets. I only bought basic sets that cover from say 3/8-11/16 or 3/4 depending on the set. Regardless the brand in that type wrench they are all the same and I like them very much, but I still view them as a nice little indulgence for the most common size fasteners only; and I doubt that I will ever expand upon the sizes I have unless they just get really cheap, or cheap used in the coming years. I still think of my pre gearwrench wrenches as my old work horses that I know will not be laying down on me. You might pick up a few sizes, they will spoil you!

I remember exactly when I realized that Gearwrenches were more than a luxury... when I was trying to take the radiator shroud off of my 93 Corvette and realized taht a 7mm gearwrench was the only way to get it done. I now have a decent smattering of most of the sizes (not the crazy big ones - I still trust a socket/ratchet for teh big stuff).
