Yeah they were 9.99 last month w/ coup. I'm sure there's one floating around for the same price that's still good. Ask in the hf coupon thread

I bought one. It's almost as accurate as my $200 Mitutoyo. I had to take it apart though and clean all the grinding grit out of it. It's incredibly crude on the inside. Looks like they ground it on a bench grinder, seriously. But it does work and is accurate. For $9.99 you can't really go wrong. Buy 2 and have a spare and its still cheap.

I think someone posted a picture on here of the the inch rule on the caliper being numbered incorrectly.

Gotta disagree. My experience has been that its total ****
One of very few things that I don't like from HF

I have an early one that eats batteries (got them 10 years ago?). They are within a thou or so, not bad for $10. I think they fixed the battery issue quite a while back.

One thing nice about them is you can use the tips to scratch and score marks without worrying about damaging your expensive calipers.

I have 3 pairs in different locations, always work and always accurate, I regularly compare them to my Mitutoyos to be sure. At $10 one of HF's better deals.

I have a handful of these.
They have changed a few times over the years, with minor differences in features and finish (e.g. battery life, serial connection, auto-on when you open them up).

All have been accurate. Some have felt like a really high quality tool.

the cheaper one is plastic, correct?

I've bought a couple extra sets of these for my coworkers so they stop borrowing mine ;)

Coupon for item 47257. 6-inch digital caliper for $10.99.

Seems decent since not even digital Mitutoyos last forever. Reviews are mostly favorable. On sale w/coupon through 10/31.

The older black ones were decent. (Auto on, large readout and decent quality.)

The latest ones are accurate but they're **** quality. The graduation marks are a cheap piece of aluminum foil, the readout is small, auto on is gone and the slide feels rough. They are accurate though. Probably OK for a beater set that could get dropped or stolen. Never use a caliper without checking it against a standard.

I have one from 2011 that still eats batteries when powered off.

Good news is #76 batteries are $4/1 at dolla tree.
