Hi all, wondering if anyone has worked with the harbor freight 40 or 100 lbs sandblasters. Just picked one up this weekend. Originally got black diamond medium blasting abrasive from tractor supply. It was too thick and jammed up. So went back and got the fine blasting abrasive and it works.

Using it currently to blast my Dodge suv's undercarriage so I can prime and coat for the winter. Every winter I put rust inhibitor prime and then paint, but the rust always comes back. So figured I would blast it off and see if I can do right. I have only done about maybe 25 mins of blasting and consumed a ton of the fine abrasive. Originally I wanted medium and assumed it would be better and faster then the fine.

The harbor freight hand valve already sprung a leak on the side. I have been regulating the amount of blast from the bottom of the tank, meaning I only crack it open just enough to shoot and knock off the rust.

Anyone have any advice on what to use to replace the valve with? I see dead men valves are popular but also see the stopper wears out. Also I am shooting under the car so a dead man might be harder to position. Thoughts on whether fine is just to fine for shooting the undercarriage?

As far as gear picked up a blast hood and have some anti-fog goggles which fogged up. Close quarters are tough.
