Every time I ask for a rain check at HF I get a "no the ad says limited quantities".

I asked and received a few rain checks on items they did not have in stock.…… I can’t tell you what store did this, because I am sworn to secrecy.
I calmly spoke to the store manager and explained my frustration with his store and Horror Freight in general with no stock on advertised items when the store opens in the morning on the first day of the sale……… He apologized and I told him "apologies accepted, now do the right thing and please give me a rain check"

Right? The actual package is tiny and out of the way so I think a lot of people overlook it but it’s one of the best things to buy at HF. Premium quality punches & chisels, made in USA by Mayhew, with easy lifetime warranty, all for a good price. Even the roll-up pouch is high quality!

I haven’t personally tried this set but it looks to be of a lower grade. The icon set appears to be relabeled Mayhew 150 line: made of s2 steel and features parabolic head shape to reduce mushrooming.

Most importantly: HF warranty. bend a pin punch or wear one out? Bring it back to the store for free replacement.

I think the extra $20 is worth it here

Those pin punches look identical to a S-K set (that came in a roll up pouch) I bought over 15 years ago. Figured they were made by Mayhew since they made pry bars and other tools for S-K. Would S-K skimp on quality?

Mayhew didn't "make them for TS". TS simply carries the lower tier version.
As does Amazon, O'Reilly and anywhere else that I've come across which sells Mayhew.
I've never seen the "150 line" in person (minus the Icon version, I guess).

I went to the Laurel MD HF this afternoon. Rang up my Purchases but the cashier said no to the Icon coupon. He then asked if I wanted him to call his supervisor. I said sure. He tried a couple of times and said it wasn’t working. I mentioned nicely it sounded like a scam, especially since the pliers wrench is pictured in my coupon HF sent me. He then tried a couple of more times and he got it to work. He said my coupon was different than his. But HF sent me that coupon on my
Phone.

I can’t speak about all the HF but I’m a tad annoyed at my local HF because there was limited or zero items for the 12 day promo on hand. On my list for Xmas gifts was the pliers wrench and Icon floodlight but there were no icon floodlights and only one pliers wrench. Fortunately I have other Xmas gifts on hand but I think this years 12 day promo is a bust. However the deal for the 56” tool cabinet on the last day is good for whomever needs one since they usually have to “pre-order” them.

This is why I ended up with the Vevor welding table instead of the Titanium. Advertise it as new all over, put it on sale, don't have any even close by, and couldn't order it online.

I was in the local store Thursday and there were some areas of the store with a lot of empty shelf space.
Clearance tags still up on shelves but no product left, not sure why they leave the tags up and waste your time looking for things that aren't there.

Yeah if you’re going for a specific item on sale, it’s a good idea to call ahead. I got burned a few weeks ago trying to buy a certain light. Website says “In Stock” but when I asked an employee he didn’t even have to check to tell me they were all out

Went in after work hoping to score the Icon light yesterday, and they had ZERO of any lights of any sort on the shelf. If you want people to participate in the sale and get them in the store to hopefully buy more stuff, a smart person would ensure that the sale items are well stocked.

Based on what I saw yesterday I doubt I will make the effort to get in the store for more sales.

I was treated badly that day by store employees and have not been back since. I did want the Icon punches and drove out of my way to buy them from a different store. I'm not going to do that most of the time but I felt the Icon set was a steal at $63.99 when compared to the TS Mayhew 12 piece punch set for $59.99.

I'll live too I picked up 2 Kobalt mini toolboxes for $12.33 each and honestly I'm pretty happy with them. I already had drawer liner and the drawers open further HFs.
