My harborfreight will take copied coupons, or even punch in the barcode numbers off a picture on my phone. Just used the 20% off coupon last weekend that was posted in this thread.

I don't understand why a store would risk losing more of their business to online sales. I thought competition from online and phone orders was why the 20% off coupons are for in-store only.

I just picked up the 13-drawer roller cab for $349 here in Laurel MD with a printed coupon last night...

If the idea is to get you in the store, then why would they turn someone away. I don't understand the concept of a "sale" and then sayinmg "no sale".

If everyone could copy a 20% coupon (using this as an example), then why bother having a 20% coupon, just make it 20% off for everything.

If everyone gets free scissor coupons, why not just throw in scissors for everyone?

The point is the coupons are supposed to get deals for those who look for them or take the time to cut them out or print them... this makes the customer more apt to get all the magazine cuttings and papers... sort of creates a active follower.

This thread is a perfect example of how the coupons are creating an active following (Free advertisement to boot).

I have myself gotten accepted and denied on printed coupons, it just depends on the store employee if they care or not and/or the manager. I don't get the big deal about printed coupons myself, but I can see their marketing logic.

Because not everyone knows about this thread (as an example), or the Slickdeals website which also has printable coupons, or will take the time to print/photocopy such a coupon.

In other words, not everyone could or would copy a 20% coupon. Lots of people don't even know they exist to begin with.

Yea, not everyone gets, prints, uses, or even know of the existence of coupons! Case in point, when I bought my compressor another customer was looking at the same one. I had printed and extra coupon and offered it to him. He was really surprised. Did not know about their coupons. He bought the compressor, saved $35, and was a happy camper!

We went to an animal park near here a month or so ago and took two coupons (save $8 each) printed from the net! Got there, only needed to use one, but the ticket seller said she would hold the other and let someone else use it. Said not every one, i.e., travelers, had access to them, or a printer.

they should be handing out a 25% off sheet at the registers... it has the typical exclusions just like the 20%'s do....

If they wont take printed ones that are from the online fliers, just go to walmart and rip some coupons out of the back of car and driver magazine. We have a bunch of those lying around at work and thats what i always do

I need help in finding a new coupon to print for the industrial tile saw:

2.5 Horsepower 10" Industrial Tile/Brick Saw 95385

I had one at work, now I can't seem to locate it. Must have lost it. I see that one is being sold on Ebay, but I'm hoping not to have to buy a coupon that I lost....

Thanks (if you need to see the ebay one for reference, I'll put it below)

there's a coupon for the 2.5hp 21gal compressor for $60 off ($139) instead of $199.. I need a small cheap compressor temporarily, and was going to go buy one of these, then ended up finding the coupon on ebay for a few bucks. I did a buy it now, and the guy emailed me the # on the coupon, and I tried it online.. worked there, going to wait til next week when the actual coupon shows up in the mail, then go buy one in the store.

I'll post a copy of it up after incase anyone else wants it.. I think it only came in one magazine like last month or something because I went to a book store and looked through all the car magazines and couldn't find that exact coupon

You mean we could me making $$ off this instead of sharing with our friends for free???

Genius!

Kudos to the guy for figuring out an easy way to make a buck, but I'm glad some of us are willing to share our finds.

yeah the whole selling the coupons on ebay thing is a bit douchey, but since I can't find one locally, I'll drop a couple bucks to save sixty :3gears:

That $60 off 21 gallon compressor coupon came in today:

That worked at the counter, and I also checked the # under the barcode, and it works on the harbor freight website. You can also use 20TOOL as a coupon code online for another item (allows more than one coupon per order)

not sure what they are doing.. I noticed my stores ratchet / socket area looked a bit bare too, but I think they may just be clearing out most of the sets. They did have like 50 different socket sets, could be going to a few basic sets, plus to they have a selection of single sockets for sale as well

My local store (Parkersburg WVa) had a memo on the door saying they had to have original coupons.
That said the guy at the counter used the 20% coupon they had there that I did not have.

Scored a 20 ton shop press and a nice tool box....gotta love that place !!!

no... they are having bad issues with the distributors...

ever since the socket reset, all stores have been pretty empty... they did it way to soon... i just cant believe that they havent gotten this chit figured out...

but it takes 1 year from the time they order something from the manufacturer to the time it gets here is what i've heard... so if they ordered it a few months late when they did the order for all the new sockets, well they fawked themselves..

I just discovered this week that the flyers they throw in your driveway every week contains a lot of HF coupons. So I've been collecting them... me and the neighbors usually toss these papers

I know you just got this, but how do you like it? I'm just kind of looking for a "hobby" compressor. Fill some tires, maybe an impact occasionally, etc. Nothing major, just recreational homeowner garage use. Do you think this would be acceptable? It looks pretty appealing with the coupon!! Thanks

I have some coupons in a Hot Rod magazine I'd like to use but I don't want to cut up the magazine. Can I just take it to the store with me? Or will they still make me cut it up?
I'm hoping they can just scan the coupons and leave the magazine intact.

They cut it out or scratch it up with a sharpie.

Why not cleanly cut the page out?

Yeah, DLD - that compressor is not top of the line, but for what I need (similar to yours) it works just fine. I got mine "on sale" at 169 - just a couple of months ago - now its 139 :(

One thing, though - it is loud. Most of 'em are, but this baby does not fall on the quiet end of that scale!

You can take your catalog in to get them scanned. Before they mark thru the barcode and number, be sure to check the limitation on the coupon. If it's limited to 2 or more, you can get that many with that coupon. Don't let them mark it out. Now on the other hand, have your coupons ready to go when you get to the register. There's nothing in that store that pissed me off more then is to wait for a customer to locate a coupon. I'm sure your store will take care of you, but if you have any problems, be calm and ask for a manager.

Thats pretty much what i bought it for, its kinda loud, but any compresor of that type will be. Works fine with their earthquake 3/8 air ratchet and 1/2 impact, and my bendpak rj45 scissor jack. The one complaint i have is the regulator is a bit cheap, it was working fine, but i managed to bump it, so now its leaking a bit. They are sending me a replacement though. Its probably the best compressor youre gonna find for $139 new. Even with the regulator issue, i dont regret buying it at all
