THAT would have been good to know....

I went to HF again today. Jonesed all over that 56" tool box. Dayum that thing is nice.

I am now undecided between it and the 41". I talked to the stoe manager and he sed that he has not heard definite confirmation about the 41" roller cabinets changing finishes, but he did say there is a lot of chatter out there about it.

I have a NIB gloss red Craftsman top box that is 41". It would go great on the HF if they change the finish. I am going to wait it out til Feb or so...or as long as I can.

That $700 with the $50 off for the ITC is very, very tempting. That coupon goes til 1/31.

i now have the 5 drawer cart. and guess what ?

it has the new RED paint !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and it looks great !!!

i didn't bother checking at the store, as i figured that it would be the matt finish.
i got it home and then opened it up .
i don't even need this thing. but for the price i just couldn't pass it up.
now, i am going to make it my "go to" box.
the slides feel very solid and it is easy to move.

i used the printed $149.99 coupon and had no problems at the store.
in fact, they could not get it and me out of the store fast enough.

Yeah, I'm still sort of mad the cart didn't fit in my car that time. Drove about 75 miles one way.
Few years before that I paid $200.00 used for my bluepoint cart and the damm thing turned out to not really be deep enough, (Drawers and top till, top to bottom), and The 5 drawer HF cart, the drawers and top storage is deeper top to bottom, and the whole cart is deeper front to rear.
Hind sight is 20/20.
Was more than 1/2 temped to drive to the one in Pittsburgh, maybe bring home the 8-drawer roller-cabinet-with-8-drawer-top-chest Item #67831 for the house here, use the $189.99 coupon, and maybe try out one of the new 3/8" Earthquake impacts, using my -25% coupon.
But it's raining now, so forget that (hate driving in rain) but more importantly, I better just wait and see if I get the job in the other department, then I can bring my tools at work home, and I won't need this other box. No sense having to sell a set of boxes.
Think I may order the 3/8" earthquake air ratchet instead, and use my -25% coupon on line instead, if the shipping is not too bad.
Does say $6.99 flat rate shipping extended, but then it says till the Dec. 31st., so I don't know.
Have to keep in mind I'm looking at, at least $20.00 gas round trip too, so some things are actually cheaper to order on line.
Thanks for listening to my rambling.

Has the 6 Drawer Top Chest ever been on sale, or even purchasable separate?
http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/tool-cabinets-and-carts/6-drawer-top-chest-67423.html

I don't own a lot of tools and I need something I can travel back and fourth between houses and store in my room, so preferably under 200lbs (300lbs with tools) (sockets, ratches, wrenchs, ect that is, I don't own any fancy air/power stuff).

The craftsman equivalent is 70$, which is a little steep on my budget.

the HFT one you link to is $110, so if the $70 craftsman is a little steep, how is the HFT a better fit for your budget? If you need to transport 100lbs of tools between places, I would consider getting this:

http://www.lowes.com/pd_352331-8267...rentURL=/pl__0__s?Ntt=foam+toolbox&facetInfo=

or maybe this:

http://www.lowes.com/pd_278941-8267...rentURL=/pl__0__s?Ntt=foam+toolbox&facetInfo=

I have the 1st one above and I'm amazed how much stuff I can put it in. I have so much stuff in it sometimes it's almost too heavy to carry it over longer distances. I would have considered the 2nd one I linked to as it has wheels, but it wasn't wide enough to fit some bigger tools and the price of the 1st box was just so much better.

I have a similar toolbox (an old craftsman steel box) but it doesn't have draws or anything, and I wanted something with draws to help with organization.

Thanks for the input guys, making a harbor freight trip to go get an impact screwdriver for some stubborn rotors.

There are guys selling coupons on Ebay that will get the drill for $50. Not sure where they found them, quite tempted to buy one (about $2) and give it a shot.

FYI...there's a coupon in todays (sunday) paper for the SDS hammer drill for $49

Not a coupon sale, but their drawer liner - 18"x72" is on sale for $4.99.. not sure for how long, but I just ordered 13 rolls

Can use 20OFF code for 20% off, or 85915520 for 25% off one item 1/1/12

I ordered a few other items, and was able to use both those codes, and get $6.99 flat rate shipping for all of it

Oh No wonder I was trying to put the whole thing in 85915520781714521002 And it wouldn't take it.
I had to call and she was trying to sell me the warranty, up graded shipping, IT club membership. I would have rather ordered on line.
It's all good though,
I got the EQ air ratchet, for 52.49 after -25% coupon, $6.99 shipping, and ...............
They just messed me up, she told me $63.05 total, now my order says $78.14 !!
I have to call them back.
EDdit
No my bad, That was my order from last time for the 3/8" impact gun.
My total with tax today should be $63.05.
I did not get a confirmation e mail yet, but that was the total she gave me.
I see they charge sales tax on shipping too.

I drove out to HF today to check out the black 4 drawer and red 5 drawer carts and have to say that I was impressed with the overall rigidity of the black cart and it's lid while the red 5 drawer seemed to be flimsy and cheap. Unfortunately I forgot my coupon stash at home  and the black cart was listed "on sale" for $149.

Has anyone had luck getting the 20% coupon to work with the $99 sale coupon at the store?

Are you sure you're looking at the right red five drawer service cart, mine is great as well as others who have posted about them.

The black four service cart has a $99 super coupon, you can't use the 20% off coupon on a super coupon item.

yes I was looking at the 5 drawer service cart with the red wrinkle finish.........The lid seemed flimsy to me and most of the drawer slides were misadjusted. Have they started selling the 5 drawer with the gloss red finish yet?

The only 5-drawer carts I've seen are the glossy red ones.

I can assure you that the glossy red ones are great. They are not cheap nor flimsy.

indeed. mine is solid as a rock. the ones at the store have been neglected and beat around a little. the bolts are loosening and the slides are being abused.

i paid $150 for mine. and it has to be the deal of the century.

but, 1 kind big problem = the front top, where the lock is. that is pretty flimsy. if mine was to get used much, i would JBWELD a piece of angle on it.

The display I looked at also had the plastic horizontal slide latches on the drawers. I'm thinking that the gloss versions might be of a better quality or that the display was very old.

One way or another I will be picking up a HF cart to toss in my storage closet and replace my collection of "Dr. Quinn" toolbags.....unless the local sears decides to mark down one their returned BB griplatch 41" cabinets this week :bounce:
