Can I combine one of those with a 20% coupon?

Give it a try but I don't think it will work.

Look closely at the small print. The 20% coupon cannot be used with any other promotions and cannot be used with many items.

20% off through 12/1/12:

if you sign up with them online you can get emails with the coupons sent right to you..also you can get the mailer.

I am finding that more and more, the weekly ad that comes with my newspaper usually has better deals than the mailer/email coupons.

Anyone have any coupons for ratchets? Composit or the green handled 180* swivel head things?

I just got the mailer and there is a coupon for $7 sets of polished wrenches. I think I'm going to go snag a set of those and a composite ratchet for my junkyard bag.

I need a new cart. Im in the market for the 5 drawer cart from harbor freight. The current coupon price is $199. I need it in the near future, but I can wait awhile. How long can I expect to wait for something around $149 or so? Is this something likely to be on a black friday sale?

your chances are better if you go to the book store and look through car magazines, DIY magazines, gun magazines ,etc... to see if you can find the $149 coupon. I'd do that rather than wait... or someone generous around here can find one and print it, but you'd be waiting for that generous person to show up. i would just head out to the bookstore or nearest magazine rack.

How about a $169 coupon and you can buy it today?

totally different type of cart, not to mention that craftsman is a total piece of ****. the hft cart referred to is 10x better.

Amen...

I was in Sears for a garage door opener, and I stopped to look at that, and the other chests they had out. I was expecting something solid like my buddy's old Craftsman tool chest which is fantastic. Instead I was greeted by drawers that didn't slide easily even when empty, thin metal, and spotty fitment. No thanks, I'll take my $149 HF US General tool cart over those Craftsman any day.....

looking to buy a chop saw, HF has two 14" chop saws, one is 2 HP and sells for $69.99. The other is 3.5 HP and sells for $99.99. So for other than more HP, is there any advantage to the more expensive one? I'll only be cutting ¼" or less mild steel

I'll say this: A standard home electrical system is 110-120 volts, at usually 15 amps. Electric power of a motor can be expressed as:

Pw = ηm U I / 1000 where

Pw = power (kW)
ηm = motor efficiency
U = voltage (V)
I = current (A, amps)

So, Pw = [(1)(115volts)(15amps)]/1000 = 1.725kW

Now, 1 watt of electricity = 1/746th of a horsepower, or more easily put 1 HP = 746 watts. So 1.725kW / 746 = 2.31 HP. This is the average maximum horsepower of a standard home system, BUT, this was done at 100% efficiency, which I'd bet a lot of money your HF motor is not (also because 100% efficiency is physically impossible, damn thermodynamics), so the max HP on the bigger saw is still only going to be roughly 2HP unless hooked up to 220v.

This is some awesome info. So to apply your calculations to another situation, all of the manufacturers that tout their industrial vacuums to be in excess of 2hp on a 15 amp circuit are "blowing smoke?"

I just recently purchased to shop vacs. One is a Craftsman 6hp and the other a hang up Shop vac brand that says its a 4hp.

thanks
Steve A.

Yeah... Sorry, you've been had. Look up the air compressor false ratings lawsuits from several years ago, compressor manufacturers were claiming high HP but the motors weren't putting out anywhere near it.

This pretty much sums up your question, though: http://www.garagevac.com/c93/The-truth-about-horsepower-and-garage-vacuum-cleaner-ratings.htm

The $169 coupon that was posted is probably going to be your best bet. The coupon is good until mid-December, so if you can wait that long, you might as well... and see if it does go down to $149 on Black Friday.

Anyone have a coupon for a 6" x 48" Belt sander?

Not sure I've ever seen a coupon for this one, only for the smaller benchtop version. I have this sander and it's GREAT. Most of the people I've heard complain about it have issues with the stand assembly. I made mine a benchtop anyway but I've used it here and there without a problem; even the hf sandpaper isn't bad (which is good because the disc doesn't seem to be a common size).

20% is probably the best coupon you're going to get on it though.

Does anyone have a current coupon for the 56" roll cab? I looked through about 2 dozen magazines at the bookstore, but none had the 56".

Thanks...
