Here is a copy of the $359 HF 44 inch tool box coupon...

They have lots of the flyers at each register (at least at my local HF).

No need for a BB.
Just need a few pages. I do it all the time.

  1. Page to add an email address.
  2. Page to verify email after a link is checked on a verify email message.
  3. Link on all emails to an auto unsubscribe page.
Just tie each email address to a Guid and that would be kind of poor mans obfuscation of the user emails. You don't need anything else, unless you want some other bells and whistles.

Just curious, ...how/where is the "auto-notification to subscribed users when a page is updated" handled in this scenario?

I know its simple enough to write some back-end script for addressing this, but I didn't see where your suggestion addressed it -is all.

Dont mean to jump in the middle here but maybe we should start a separate thread for the hfqpdb.com site. Its getting a little hard to follow this thread now. Again. Not trying to be rude

I agree. I really appreciate the work you are doing lefty, but I think both topics deserve a thread of their own.

Just a word and feedback on the Free HF AAA batteries.

They are complete junk.

As an example, I had also bought the small HF pen engraver to keep on a job site. After engraving a bunch of tools I noticed the engraver was losing power/strength when engraving so thought of this being the perfect opportunity to replace the batteries that came with it and use my brand new free HF AAA batteries, I inserted them and tried to continue engraving except the moment the engraver touch any surface it would bog down and stop (every time). I re-inserted the old used batteries that came with the engraver and was able to continue engraving.

I put in some new Duracell's and it was night and day the difference with the orig. batteries, the engraver chugged along like a champ.

The HF AAA batteries were a waist of time, not to mention an environmental waist with no benefit or usefulness. They maybe good for some purpose but I recommend getting a different freebie like the 27 LED light or the 25ft tape measurer.

They are "heavy duty" batteries; you shouldn't use them when you need alkaline. They seem to work like typical heavy duty batteries, so I wouldn't say they're worthless.

for free, they work great in the tv remote...

I think that's what they're intended for; low-drain items like remotes and clocks.

Anything more powerful, like motorized toys, the engraver mentioned above, etc., definitely need alkaline. HF does have alkaline batteries, but the freebies are zinc chloride.

They also work pretty well in my LED Headlights

HF free batteries work good in my cordless headphones, LED lights, battery powered speakers.

Spindle sander. Limit 4, so keep that in mind.

None of the Heavy Duty batteries are worth putting into anything imho. I have done several test on Alkaline batteries, Duracell or Eveready did not perform any better than the Harbor Freight Alkaline 24 pk.
I googled zinc chloride to find out about them... OK for low drain (emphasis on low drain), they work fine for led flashlights.... anything higher drain... well, you know they don't work well...
(Quoted wrong person.... my bad.. zinc and alkaline are completely different)

I hope this isn't off topic, but has anyone experienced having the 'free with any purchase' coupon refused? I'm fairly new to shopping at HF. I purchased a ball joint tool today, used a 20% coupon, and then presented the magnetic tray with the 'free' coupon. The register wouldn't accept the freebie coupon when scanned, or even when the cashier keyed in the number (it wasn't expired). Then she told me that the fine print says it can't be used with any other coupon or discount (referring to my use of the 20% coupon on the other item). What? Last night I bought a socket set with a 20% coupon and also got the free gift. And the same with a purchase on New Year's Day.

It's just a freebie and I'm not losing sleep over it, nor did I want to call over the manager (there were others in line behind me), but it seemed odd.

Most of the time when I go in I'll use a 20% off coupon AND a "free" item coupon. Never a problem.

Harbor Freight seems to be getting real pissy lately. The latest incident was day before yesterday. I returned an angle drill that I simply took out of the box, plugged in and ran it, (not drilling anything), and it was grinding and sounded as if it were self-destructing. Packed it back up in the box, with receipt in hand, and returned it.

Cashier asked if anything wrong with it, so I told her just what it was doing, and I didn't want another. My original receipt, -20% coupon, and flashlight were still in the bag. So I picked up some pliers, and went to pay. She wouldn't accept the 20%OFF coupon, saying I already used it. I explained that I just returned the item. She barked that it didn't matter; no discount.

The flashlight also didn't work, and she refused to switch it out for me, since technically I shouldn't even have it, as I returned the drill.

Amazing what some of these cashiers come up with.

It really depends on the cashier (and sometimes the store manager.) I know some of the employees just want to help the customer out and have been known to scan a 20% coupon even if the customer didn't have one.

But I also know that employees hate doing returns. Mainly when the items have obviously been used and the customer claims that they just decided they didn't need/want them.

I printed one of the 25% off coupons from this thread last month and the cashier refused to enter it because it was a "copy" that didn't have the web page information on it. I've made copies from magazine ads in the past and there was no problem so something is changing. I used to go to Harbor Freight first but now it's my last resort.

I already own the 44" roller box. I am looking to buy the top box now.

^ ^ Sorry missed that you're looking for top box.

Thanks to Bczygan for posting ad with great 44" top box price of $279.99 shown. Have to keep telling myself . . I have enough toolboxes, I have enough toolboxes, I have enough toolboxes!! ;)

Anyone have any good things to say about electric impact for $46 ??

With a 20% or 25% coupon, that gets electric impact down into low 30 dollars . . . that's tempting to have around.

I use them in the small round LED motion light they sell. I use this out on the door jamb at our cottage, so I can see where to put the key when I go out there at night, as we're in the middle of nowhere in the woods and it is often very dark. Beats fumbling for a light when I'm holding keys.

The freebie batteries seem to last about two weeks. We get a lot of deer walking around at night, so I figure it is getting triggered pretty regularly, then it stays on for a minute or so. If we're going to be away a long time, I'll put in alkalines, but overall can't beat the freebies for this use.

It's ok, not great. Too bulky for a lot of jobs, and occasionally doesn't have enough grunt to break lug nuts loose. I've had one for a couple years and still use it often.
