I’ve also found the old free HF tape measures to be consistently off of all my other tape measures by 1/16”, no matter the brand. I only use these tapes in the kitchen junk drawer now when only rough measurements are needed.

^Which makes a HF tape useless if you have to measure something longer than 6' long by yourself, unless you only use the HF tape the entire time.

How different were the measurements? The tolerance seems to be around 1/16" for tape measures, so with any brand using two different tape measures, even the same brand and model, could give you up to a 1/8" difference.

It’s been a few years ago so I’m not sure exactly how far off they were. But I am certain it was well over 1/8”. I trashed the HF tapes after that and started getting other stuff as my free items.

I just signed up for ITC. The purchase of 4 toolboxes will cover the membership and then some. I am hoping they can look up my membership at the store, since I probably won't receive a physical card in the next couple days.

It says one per day per customer. Have the wife go with and you buy something and she buys something. Also I've bought stuff went to the car came back in and checked out with same coupon at different cashier before with no issues

There are about 4 to 5 stores in my area, do you know if the one a day restriction is per store or per customer. For example, could I purchase the bottom box at store #1 on Friday and drive a few miles across town and buy the top box at store #2, then again across down and buy the matching tool cart at store #3 or do I have to buy 1 on Friday, 1 on Sat and 1 on Sun?

Inquiring minds want to know as they track your Inside Club membership by phone number.

I know I might not get an answer here, but I’ve been wanting to get the 1720 lb trailer for abbot. It goes on sale for $340-$350, last year only twice. Any thoughts on whether that will continue, or should I pull the trigger now?

My store manager was kinda a D*** about it. I brought him the emailed receipt from buying the membership online, and my old expired ITC card explained that I just renewed it online. Eventually they honored it “I guess we will have to let him have it” but they weren’t happy. Took 3-4 days to get an email with the actual member number that clearly stated I could just show them and it would work. About 10 days total to get the physical member packet and gift card. YMMV.

Just took the ITC plunge as well. Sounds like HF is finally putting some teeth behind it and making it worth becoming a member. Hopefully they do not back track after all of us sign up for it. I really do not have any near term needs other than saving a few $$$ here and there.

While I understand spouses can effectively use the ITC membership as well, am I correct that other family members can utilize it as well so long as they provide my phone number?

Haven't gone to HF in a few months. They just opened a new one in the town where I work. I wandered in to grab a gas can, opened my app looking for the 20% coupon, couldn't find it. Tried hfqpdb.com, no dice. I can't believe they're getting rid of the one thing that people had gotten used to and kept them coming back. I guess it would be wrong to assume they'll lower prices rather than offer coupons indefinitely....

Hilld it will not come up on the screen your prior purchases unless you return something.
You should be able to buy at one store and then another

Yep, you can go anywhere and pay full price for a gas can. In fact, you can often get a better price than HF even with the 20% coupon.

RK also has a 5G for $12, though it's a different brand. https://www.ruralking.com/catalog/product/view/id/36818

People make the mistake thinking that getting 20% off something has to be the best deal. A few years ago I went to HF to look at their panel lift...Drove right across the street to compare it to Menards. Theirs was on sale just like HF but the Menards was like $16 less even after adding the HF 20% coupon. The lifts were also identical, I took pics of every little detail for comparison.

20% off at harbor freight is often the best deal I can get RIGHT NOW when I need something local. Even without the 20% off it's a better deal. They were $23.99 at Lowe's

But that's your specific problem, it doesn't change what I said.

SO you're just making a blanket statement irrespective of my comments?
My point was that I needed a gas can at that moment.

I agree you can find better prices on most stuff elsewhere. I literally only shop at HF when I need that item local and in a hurry.

It says right in the fine print it doesn't

Yup! I overlooked that. I was paying attention to the excluded items and the expiration. Oh, well. The ITC still will save me more on this purchase than I spent on the membership, unless they won't accept my receipt as proof of membership. I doubt I'll get my membership number before the coupon expires.

Lighten up, Francis. I gave you a thumbsup to let you know I wasn't being negative towards you. I apologize for using the item you mentioned to serve a general example.

The store gave me an ITC card during an in-store purchase. I got the ITC membership because it reduced the price of a welder by $100 thus it sort of paid for itself.

There was a thing that said I get a $10 gift card with my online purchase, so I went that route. I would have just done the in-store purchase if I would have known that they don't just issue a number at that time. I guess I have to wait up to 72 hours for my membership to become active.

I just purchased an ITC membership today and a 5 drawer tool box. I'm buying some Yukon tool boxes for occasional use tools so the membership will pay for it's self and more by the end of the week end.

I probably will in the future for a couple of items that I am holding on buying but its no rush for me and glad to see they are making the 20 % more viable, even if you do need to sign up for the ITC. I figure like you if I buy a toolbox and another item that is about 1300 dollar that ITC fee is chump change.

They will let you use the one time 10% when you get the credit card so that can be a 30% discount for a big purchase like a toolbox.

Wow. Local manager here was great. Showed him the emailed receipt and he didn’t hesitate to say they would honor it. Didn’t need to though as it was already in the system by my phone number.

I wondered about that. They already have my phone number, so shouldn't their system be able to put 2 and 2 together? Good to know!

Why didn't you guys just buy the ITC membership at the store since you were going there and the store gets the sale? That's what I did.

There's a $10 gift card for online membership purchase. So I figured if it's all the same, I'll take the extra $10. Maybe it's not ask the same.

I bought it at the store because when I called HF, they said I couldn't purchase the membership online and use it at the store the same day. Maybe technically true but not true in real life. I really didn't want to have to talk to a manager to check, just buy it load and go so I did it all at the store.

The ITC 10% is a no brainer if you are buying a couple hundred dollars with it. I don't chase a dollar here or there but when I'm saving $40 a box for 4 of them ...
