Does anyone have any first hand dealings with the Harbor Freight electric impact? Its a present for a friend that does not have air.
Thanks

I assume you talking about their wired Chicago electric (cheap) . Used one the other week , borowed from friend, about 5 year old tool. Worked awesome, apparently built to last at least that long . Not sure about torque specs, It it was more then enough to take wheels off.

I've had one for a long time, can't remember when I bought it. I don't use it very often mainly rotating tires on 5 vehicles, and a trailer. Never have had a problem with it, but it certainly isn't used daily.

Like just about every corded 1/2" drive electric impact wrench they are rated for 250 foot pounds. If your lug nuts are tightened with a torque wrench it will take them off without a problem. If they were put on with an air impact wrench at most repair shops , it wont touch it. You'll have to use a breaker bar to loosen and then use the impact.

The purply red one? IMO it really ***** that it doesn't stop when you let off the trigger, and that a 3/8 cordless may have more power.

Same here, I gave mine away to a kid with few tools and went milwaukee. Mine wouldn't work on lugnuts. Kinda heavy too. The red 3/8 does alum wheel lugnuts ok

I would look at lithium impacts at HOME DEPOT.

I have one, and that's about my only gripe, once the lugnut is off, it flings it under the car because it's still spinning. But, it's better than nothing.

This was the first impact I got. It's definitely unwieldy, but I mainly got it to remove ball joints that would spin freely by hand. It's worked fine for me but I'm in CA with no rust to deal with.

I've had the orange one for a few years. It takes off lug nuts, including ones put on at the tire shops, just fine. Sometimes it has to hit it for 3 or 4 seconds, but that's it.
