Harbor freight floor jack question

My floor jack has finally given up the ghost. After 15 years of use and some minor repair I'm no longer comfortable with it, leaks down while lifting, harsh sudden release etc..

I'm stuck between the HF 3 ton "super duty" and HF 4ton.

Has anybody had experience with either or both. Slow steady and controllable release is the number one priority, speed and ease of lift is second. Use is mostly on full size pickups and mason dumps.

I'm open to suggestions for alternatives to the HF jacks as well.

Northern tools offers a clone to the Professional Daytona, it carries a 4 year warranty and claims to utilize Ucups also.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with the "imposter" orange ones. I've had it a little over a year , not one issue with it.

There is a price difference between the "super duty" original and the others. It is more expensive than the 4ton listed one as well. I'm trying to figure out where they made the changes that are reflected in the price.

I have one of their 3ton jacks and I've been very happy with it. Good lift control, nice build quality, etc. As always though, it's always wise to use jack stands.

The Professional will carry a 3 year warranty versus 90 days, it also utilizes Ucups on the pump pistons versus Orings and lastly it has magnets near the intake screens in the reservoir to prevent metal from circulating. There have been discussions that the frame is also beefier, but I haven’t verified that.

Not really.. I’d buy from whomever will give you the easiest warranty claim service at that price point.

If you have a Northern tools nearby, you can always find 20 off $100 floating around, and I’m sure there is a Daytona coupon out there also.

The imposter jacks have a smaller saddle. My original has a 5 inch square saddle. 5.5 inches would be better with 6 inches being ideal. Anything less than 5 inches and you're getting into those PeeWee Herman consumer grade jacks that dent the underside of your car.

This past Christmas I received the HF yellow Daytona professional 3 ton jack and it is great! My 2.25 ton Craftsman from 1988 finally died, and I needed something large to lift my F350 V10 dually and this jack does the job. It raises quickly and smoothly. I use my jacks regularly and this jack seems well-built enough to last a long time. It has the double pump mechanism where the standard jacks are single pump.

I love the Long Reach Low Profile Daytona, specifically bought it because of my particularly low vehicles. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again, and I'm also considering getting the yellow Daytona as a second jack, once my Pittsburgh stops being trustworthy -- though it's 10 years old now, and still hasn't given me any signs to be concerned.

super duty daytona pretty good for price and easy availability.
Nothern tool one seems likely good option too and extra year warranty, no idea how good nothern tool are on warranty handling.
Main plus for HF will simply be more people got easy access to purchase via store thus easier return as close to a store .
also coupon codes always going on daytona and I prefer the saddle style on those.
