A couple of weeks ago I picked up this thing since the one I've had for 40+ years never made it back from my nephew. The reviews were mixed but almost 100% of the negative reviews were the tip grips the fitting and won't let go.. I bought it anyway and the first thing I did was connect it to a zert on my shiny new kubota tiny tractor. Piped on piped off no problem. Pulled out my wheel barrow to move some bags of potting soil and noticed a squeal so I grabbed the gun gave it a few pumps aannddd... F-ing thing was stuck! Twisting, turning, yanking and it would not release. Grabbed my 10R visegrips didn't all again and off it came with the end of the zert as you can see in the upper right of the picture. Fortunately I hand a short nozzle from my old gun and the tip threaded on, seems you can't make a grease gun fitting that works on just new zert fittings. Other than that.. nice grease gun

I've had a few tips get stuck on zerks over the years at home and work. The gov isn't known for buying the best 100% of the time let alone differences in zerk sizes from different manufacturers. I always leave the tips barrel (not the fitting) no more than finger tight. If I get a stuck fitting or one that just won't engage it's a quick turn to loosen and they engage or release just fine.
