Harbor Freight Hammer Drill - Won't hold SDS Chuck?

So I bought this hammer drill. I need to use it to speed up old tile removal.

I purchased a set of SDS chisel pieces, but it's not working for some reason. The drill is moving back/forward, but the chuck piece isn't. It "snaps" into the tool, but still moves back and forward if I grab it, so its not engaging.

I've tried pushing hard on it and it doesn't go any further.

The manual says it takes SDS Plus. I looked on the packet of the chisels and it only says SDS.

Is that the reason? Am I overlooking something stupid here?

Unless that's normal, and it only "hammers" when the chuck is pressed against whatever its needed to hit?

SDS and SDS Plus are compatible. It won't hit unless your bit is pushing on something, like concrete.

How big is the wall? Have you considered a dremel flush cut with a grout removal tool and a chisel and hammer? I'm guessing you wanted the cheap way out toll wise, but they make kits for reciprocating saws abs one of them is a power chisel.
