For the longest time the US General 2 stage 60 gallon compressor was 649, and suddenly the day I go to buy one. the 649 is off the web page and not in the store. Instead their all 799!!! For 799 I might as well just go buy a 80 gallon CH single stage from Lowes.

Looks like i'm making the 50 mile journey to pick up a used 80 gallon emglo. It just chaps me that they do stuff like that.

If you go to the store, take a 20% off coupon, and you can get like $140 off! Or $160 if the price is as high in store.

Harbor Freight has the ability to run a search to find the lowest price that an item has been sold at. I have asked for and received the lowest price several times.

My store will match the website price if I bring in a copy of the web page.

its not on the website anymore, that's the problem. It was there last night but the page doesn't exist today. I went through my browser history and tried to load it.

20% off brings the price back to 639 which i guess is still a great price for a 2 stage compressor, but I'm just jacked they raised the price on them over night. I was literally there 5 days ago and their were all listed 649 but I didn't have the cash then.

It's HIGHLY LIKELY that US General is made by Campbell-Hausfled anyway.

Steve

i read rumors that US general compresses were actually made in the US. I'm gonna do some bargain hunting and see what I come up with. Its still a great price but it caught me off guard seeing they raised it that much overnight.

I'm pretty sure it's not C-H -- but the last time I checked, their bigger compressors were American-made and good quality. They occasionally have refurbished deals that are just ridiculous -- but they get snapped up fast.

If you're patient with Harbor Freight you can get some phenomenal deals on the 25% of their products that are worth owning.

Hmmm, there seems to be some confusion here. Maybe I'm wrong, but when I set up my Farmhand (Campbell-Hausfled) it said it was made in Ohio. It weighs 300lbs so I can't imagine they would ship it across the ocean. Maybe some of their smaller models are made overseas.

My HF 60 gallon gallon has an AO Smith motor motor, cant remember what the pump is...but it is cast iron. It was assembled in Dillion? SC.
Are you sure the part number was the same? #93274 is 799.00, and the refurbished unit part number #55397 is 649.00.(good luck finding one of those).

Just a stupid-wild-a$$-guess, but the currency valuations between the dollar and other currencies might have something to do with wild fluctuations in pricing. This occurs when buying imported goods. You can certainly expect more of it in the future as liberal politics, taxes, and deficits continue to erode the value of the already falling dollar's value.

Legally, retailers can't keep an item at the sale price all of the time. If they are in compliance with the regs, I think they can have things on sale 2/3 of the time max. They get around this by offering coupons and that kind of thing. The good think it they often don't manage the process well enough so you can double up the coupon and the offers.

dulmer might of hit the nail on the head. They could of been refurbs in the store, and on the website would explain why it was an 'in store only' purchase. There were subtle differences between the two but nothing major, just location of parts so I suppose they could of been older models that were refurbished..

Dulmer, how do you like your 5hp 60 gallon units?
