Went to homedepot today and looked at tool boxs. They had a 44" tool box for $200. Well HF has the 42" iv been looking at for awhile. So i called hf only to be told they only price match to the same company tool boxs. I told the guy that hf was the only company that sells us general tools boxs, we hung up. Called again and was told yes they price match to take my ad to the store, so i did. Was told they dont price match. I dont know how to add a picture be is says" we will beat any competitor price, even a advertised special. Just google harbor freight price match guarantee

Is that Home Depot box of similar quality or a thin gauge metal one? I could see why they don't want to price match a piece of ****.

I hope you donned your flame suit before besmirching the good name of the mighty General Tso toolbox around here. Good luck and welcome to GJ.

Troll thread?

The Ford dealership won't price match the Chevy dealership on their four door sedans either

Price matches have always been the same product sold by different companies. Sometimes you get away with a "similar" item, but that might only be at small stores that are more willing to make you happy and thus come back.

Nice first post. Maybe it's a typo, but HF has the 44" box, not the 42" box.

And post links to the Husky box you think you should price match to the HF box. Apples to apples, right?

The body of the HF 44" is 42" wide. It has a 2" handle. It really is a 42" box.

They are no worse than most others. The boxes are made for them in China. I once found the company site. Even if you find a similar box that they supply to another retailer, it probably will not be identical. That is house brand stuff and while I have seen it sold elsewhere it is always for more because they probably got it from HF. The match will only apply to branded stuff that is not exclusive to HF. The big box stores and discount warehouses often have their own model number on something that is widely sold. If you try to match price they will claim it is not the same because it is a different model number. Looking close or even looking identical often will not get you a price match.

As much as I think the HF boxes are not as good as everyone says. There is no way HF should ever price match. Why? They don't sell anything the same as another store. Between the two boxes the HF is better. That's not to say all the HF sells are better than Husky boxes. I just got the Husky 66" long 24" deep for $599.99. I already have that thing loaded and it is easily just as nice or nicer than my Nephew's HF 56". More storage capacity and almost $200 less.
