a while back i bought a cheesy HF mig 100 from a pawn shop guy said he couldn't get it to feed i fixed that issue 10 mins ago (as i started to get into a tinker mode) now the issue i have is no arc and i mean not even a zip with no helment on. i have checked to make sure everything is in place and nothing is fried.

any ideas on what might cause the no arc issue btw i did have the ground right.

No wire speed knob?

got one i
ve turned it up as high as it will go/ loosened and tighttened up the wire spool and it still doesn't feed right. best it will do is make small dropping tacks but not enough to run a bead

Sounds like the liner has a kink

Something in the hose/tip hitting/stopping the wire? spool to tight or "cross threaded wire? I've had both these issues happen on my cheapie.

Just throw it in the garbage.

Seriously dude must you come in every thread that mentions HF and just bash them? Why not actually contribute something? We get it that you don't like them. To the OP I would just take it back to HF and see if they will give you a new one. There is a good chance that they will.

the liner is like a cheapo straw i mean really cheap doesn't seem to have any issues, i can feed and it will feed but takes forever anybody tried to add like some sort of gripper to the feed wheels? the wire is the linc brand from lowes and that **** snaps off like a cracker. i can take the tip off no change

The test to see if wire is feeding properly is to run the wire into a gloved hand and see if the wire will birds nest, that is bunch up and bend. If not, you have a feed problem. Common feed problems are dirty liner, worn drive wheels or mis- adjustment of drive wheel tension. Is the wire clean? Is the wire the rite size for the feed rollers? Good luck

You know what I do with my HF 90amp welder is spray the wire roll with WD40 and tighten the feed knob just a bit. This has been working (every time) for me for several years. The good news is I recently purchased a Lincoln 135 to replace it, I'm just waiting on the $250.00 for a bottle to go from dual-shield to mig :)

Funny how you trash everybody elses stuff but we never see any of your stuff. Honestly it makes me wonder. Sometimes we do what we can with what we can afford.

I dont need my own welder. We have one at work. All the welding I do I get paied for.

HF has some decent stuff, wire feeds are not one of them. I agree, toss it, give to an enemy and let them have the same frustration you are having.

You will notice the difference, will be obvious.
