Harbor Freight Motorcycle Lift Toast

I have a HF motorcycle lift bought used but in good shape a couple of years ago. Last night, the pump pedal snapped up and looks like the lever connecting to the compression rod hyper extended. Except now it won't go back in even after taking the lever off and trying to push (and hammer) it back in.

I've researched this and 1)there's a Redline replacement pump but it looks like it's slightly different from my pump (cost about half of the price of a new one on sale). I have the mounts that slide into the frame rather that using a peg and set screw.

I've seen plenty of mods out there on the internet but all require some fabrication and I don't have a welder.

Any idea's before I scrap it and look for another one on Craigslist?

It over stroked now the piston's wedged in the bore.

Pull the jack out of the lift, clamp it in a vise and see if you can get the ram back where it should be. You know, like grab the end and try to get to parallel to the bore. It should retract once the piston's not wedged.

It might not be hurt that bad. I'll look at my lift when I go to my shop later.

Worst case scenario if it is toast? Call Harbor Freight's main number and ask them to quote you on replacement parts or an entire replacement pump. There are 2 distinctly different pumps. One looks more like a modified bottle jack while the other looks like a custom piece.

They have 2 different part numbers for these lifts, one of the links below will be the right one for yours.

~ Or...it could be this one...~

Dagofast,

It looks more like the pump in the first link but in that diagram, it's mounted with a set screw and rod. This one look like it has an oil ****** where the axle in part of the pump and in the frame.

I may take it out and try and 1)take to HF, 2)Rebuild it or 3)take to a hydraulic shop. If the suggestion from iagsxr fails.

Right now its lowered all the way and my son has parked the 78 CB550 on it. Easy to undo but busy wrestling with my daughter '03 jeep TJ this afternoon.
