So it's time for a new jack my harbor freight grey low profile jack finally died

I was wondering how the new orange jacks compared to the previous generation grey jacks

For the orange jacks vs grey jacks

Are they built better?

Better pumps?

etc etc

I don't know that anyone has torn one down yet to answer this question, but since both the Pittsburgh and orange Daytonas carry the same 90 day warranty I'll venture a guess there's been no internal improvements made. I haven't been into my HF lately but someone here on GJ recently posted they were phasing out the Pittsburgh ones to only have the orange & yellow Daytonas.

The yellow Daytona does have better u-cup seals on the pistons (as opposed to o-rings like on virtually every other brand of china-made jacks these days, incl Pittsburgh, Arcan, Blackhawk, Liftmaster, Torin, Craftsman, etc), magnets for filtration, greasable zerks on pivot points and wheels, and a 3-year warranty. It also is noticeably heavier-duty than the orange or grey ones, with thicker steel all around, larger saddle, and much larger wheels. Weighs ~20% more but rolls easier.

I've had the same 3-ton low profile Pittsburgh jack for roughly a decade and not had any issues with it. If what WWheeler says is true and they're phasing them out, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of the Daytona jacks (I'm actually waiting for my settlement gift card to buy a Daytona long reach low profile) though I would probably get the extended warranty to be on the safe side.

I wish I had bought one of the low profile long reach Pittsburgh jacks while they were available, but I'll do just fine with getting the Daytona model when the money is there.

If it's toast anyway try putting a little hydraulic jack oil sealer in it. I did that with my engine hoist about 10 years ago and it still doesn't leak down.
