I have searched the forums, here and the fab and off-road sites, and I cannot find anyone that has successfully found the color match for the US General Tools/Harbor Freight Grey color. I modified my 20t press and need to add matching paint. Does anyone have some first-hand experience with this? I have read that it is "possibly" Rust-oleum High Performance Enamel - Dark Machine Gray, but cannot find someone that has actually tried it.

We all have harbor freight tools and occasionally need to either touch up dings or modify them. Having matching paint is a good thing. The below is what I have been able to find as "verified" matches. Any additional input would be great to help build a solid list of what works to help out the Garage Journal Community with their current and upcoming projects.

Red: Dupli-Color "High performance caliber paint with Ceramic" Red. Available at Auto-Zone and Rust-Oleum American Accents #7925 Colonial Red Satin

Lime Green Toolbox: Rust-Oleum Custom Neon Green Lacquer Spray Paint

Blue Toolbox: Rust-Oleum Painters Touch 2X Ultra Cover 12 oz. Gloss Deep Blue General Purpose Spray

Grey Tools: Possibly Rust-oleum High Performance Enamel - Dark Machine Gray

I can't help you on a match but if it helps, I emailed HF about a month ago and told them it would be beneficial to them if they sold matching spray/roll paint to go along with their boxes, carts and such.

They haven't responded.

your listing for blue is incorrect...that paint is satin, not gloss. Here is the correct one...

If you need a perfect match take a small part to an autobody paint supply store that has the paint camera.
They can then mix you up some that matches in whatever line of paint they carry.

Harbor Freight has multiple manufacturers for a lot of their items they sell. There's going to be color variations between manufacturers.

This project is a hydraulic press modification. I welded a mobile base on and added some bits that I want to match. All my tools are for use, but I do like them to look good. I keep them clean, oiled, and free of rust. Matching paint for a mod or damage repair is just an extension of taking care of tools for me.

I have a Sherwin Williams Automotive paint store not too far away and I have had them mix epoxy primer & Paint for a bunch of stuff over the years. Not everyone though has that service in their back yard and I hope that this list will not only help me but also folks that want to buy a <$10 can of paint at their local Big Box for a small job without investing the time and $ to have the paint specifically matched.

Just trying to be helpful and add value/knowledge to the GJ community

Not sure what orange they use, but it needs to fade to a chalky dull color after minimal time in the sun!

Nowadays most any paint store will have the equipment to match paint, it's not just the auto body supply houses anymore.
