Thought I'd share. These come as a pair and holds a roll of towels horizontally on a metal surface using magnets. Instead I drilled and mounted a threaded rod (7/16 that I had on hand) with a section of conduit that is sandwiched by two large washers slightly smaller in diameter than the roll's cardboard cylinder. I drilled mounting holes, removed the magnets, and after a quick spay paint job mounted it upright in my peg board. I'll find a spot for the other one. Works just like the one in the kitchen :)

sorry two pics are sideways, do not know how to rotate image, it's really mounted vertically but could be mounted horizontally as well.

I have two for towel holders on my box. However I also took a set to hold a box I made to hold various consumables I like to keep on hand at my box.

I made the box out of spare sheet metal that was sitting around. Used an old piece of weather stripping to line the edge. I removed the ends on the holders and just stuck bolts through to old the box.

I also made a holder for my grease gun. Screwed a spare piece of PVC to the holder and shot everything JD green to match my box. Works great. Keeps my grease fun out of the way too. It's also in the grease gun holder thread.

Actually only one of those are from HF. I've got the same exact ones at a Menard's for cheaper under the Tool Shop brand that they carry.

I didn't know those red HF pieces were for paper towel rolls for the longest time!

Where i used to work every box had 6 or 8 of the halves on the back of their boxes to hold air hose whips.

Other than the 44" boxes, I'm pretty sure the only thing from HF in both my shops are a bunch of the magnetic glove package holders, magnetic shelfs and magnetic can holders - love them things!

Like the grease gun idea! I painted my HF paper towel holder black to match my box. Works great.

I get the idea. But why redesign something into what it was designed to do in the first place.

Any piece of metal would have done the job of the paper towel holder no need to remove the magnets or ball. Just bend add rod and go.

I repurposed a paper towel holder like the one pictured below by mounting the bottom above my tool box then hung rolls of tape on it. Masking tape and duct tape on bottom and smaller rolls of electrical tape on top.

Sorry, but I don't see the point of buying a magnetic paper towel holder so you could remove the magnets, add a rod, and screw it to the wall. Why not just buy a paper towel holder already made, or bend a piece or metal as a bracket and then put a rod on it?

It was a Father's Day gift but I had no room on the side of my tool chest but still had the need for a useful towel holder A drill and some on hand hardware did the trick
