Harbor Freight Parts Washer pump replacement

My Harbor Freight parts washer pump died so I needed to find a new pump. Amazon had the same pump for $35 and after the first one that I got broke when screwing the tube fitting in the port I decided to do something else. There is a video on YouTube about installing a Beckett pump into this type of parts washer, so it gave me an idea. In that video the enclosure is way bigger than what I have. After doing a bit of measuring I found it would probably fit in my setup.

The total cost is about $100 and you can buy a new part washer for that. Still you have the crappy little aquarium pump that seems to die regularly in these washers. The new pump works great and has plenty of flow but not to much. The Beckett GP210V is made to handle solvent, perfect fit.

I purchased the pump from https://www.wholesalepumps.com/beckett-gp210v-parts-washer-200-gph/. Everything else I got at Ace Hardware. The 1/4" 90 is welded onto the side of the box, it's galvanized but that's all Ace had, just grind it clean before welding. The hose is 3/8" gas line from Ace. The pump bracket is just made from some sheet metal that I had laying around. When done the original cover with filter fits back on with no problems.

FYI - I use mineral spirits in my parts washer so I need something compatible with solvent.

Anyone have any input?

RE: parts washer up grades. I found that with a little finesse 1/4 npt would mate satisfactorily with the factory metric thread. As always I used gasoila pipe dope

I still have my original HF pump running in solvent in mine - 30+ years now - but I suspended the pump in a solvent barrel and set the tank on top.

They carry a water pump that when taken apart is the same as the parts washer pump

I used an old fuel pump I had lying around on my washer. Just took the pump out of the housing it was in. It's not really that big and works well if you're using kerosene. Used a 12Vdc wall transforner with low amperage, to keep the flow down so that it doesn't spray everything all over the place.
