Harbor Freight pot holes

Is it a requirement that the parking lots where Harbor Freight stores are located have pot holes? I've been to probably 5 different stores and they all seem to have issues. I know they aren't located in the newest of strip malls, but it's almost funny. I always know when I find the store because the lot has holes in it. Maybe they are a poor man's speed bump?

The best way to sell stuff cheap is to have low overhead. Cheap rent comes from locations that are not kept up. You didn't think you were at Bloomingdales did ya?

We have a pretty big Harbor Freight here, with a nice parking lot.

yep it is required.

both the ones in the area are in older strip malls.

one bonus is that one of them is located right next door to hooters..:eyecrazy:

Poor people frequent HF. Poor people drive cars that leak fluids. Fluid leak on asphalt softens it.

middle aged men who need to feel cool and/or young and think they are impressing younger women drive mustangs. nothing screams "look at me, I need attention" like a mustang. how's that for a generalization??

our hf is in a nice, modern plaza, and has a nice parking lot

I think the one near me had a new Fiat 500 peaking out from one of the pot holes...best part about the one closest to me, speed bump directly followed by said pothole...good times.

Ours is in an old Target store and the lot is still very nice. The counter girls have a few potholes though.

I find that some of the stores are really dumpy while others are really nice. The store in Hemet, CA is a complete dump! The store in Moreno Valley, CA is very nice.

Honestly, I believe most of it depends on the landlord. It seems that around here most of the strip malls are owned by out of state companies. Unless they are told about the parking lots by the care takers (maintenance people) they won't get fixed.

It's because the asphalt was mixed by Chicago Electric and surfaced by Central Machinery.

My HF has potholes so big it will swallow your whole car. No joke.

Here is a picture of what I was talking about. See all the tan areas? That is all one big pothole. It is deep too! Your car can get stuck in there.

I knew I'd get a rise with my comment. I've frequented harbor freight in my leaky mustang many a time. It was a joke.

Yikes, you would think they would put some barricades up to limit liability from auto damage. Its likely a multi unit retail complex though no? The property manager / owner likely assumes liability in this case I would think. My HF parking lot isn't bad and its in a descent side of town, not upscale, but descent.

Come drive though our city, you'll forget about the HF parking lot.

That section is probably a $150,000~350,000 fix so unless the strip mall is bucks up, it ain't gonna happen.

My local HF, or maybe the landlord, did the parking lot before they opened. Sprayed tar over the whole thing, potholes and all.

Come drive round pretty much any area in the UK and you'll think we have giant gophers that eat asphalt. Between several hard winters and the recession meaning less money spent on repairs and shoddy repair work by utility companies the roads are truly dreadful. I drive a 4x4 for a reason, on occasion one needs 4 lo to get out of a pothole! I pity the fool that drives a low sportscar!

My local HF has a shoddy parking lot, but that's because it's in an old, now abandoned strip mall. The HF takes up part of what used to be a Wal-Mart.
