one thing i cant stand about hf hand tools is that they skip. i know the reasoning but cant stand it. its one of the reasons i wont buy there sockets/wrenches. if they did offer a set without skips i probably would get a set

would you like hf to offer non skip sets or are you happy with them. would you buy them if it was a complete set.

the money you save by buying HF sockets, is more than enough to go to lowes and pick up the 3-5 sockets that are missing. thats exactly what i did sunday. i went to lowes and picked up like 8 or 9 impact sockets that were missing.

Some of the high dollar sets skip certain sizes. I have a $900 socket set that skips some sizes. Just something you have to live with.

nothing worse than seeing an empty slot in a socket holder.
that high dollar set you bought from a good company most likely has the sockets where you can buy them and they would all be the same. where as hf you have to find another brand to fit the skips

Doesn't really bother me, at least not enough to not buy their sets.

Anything I need is filled in with individual sockets, like somebody already mentioned. I've never been big into having all matching tools or sockets.

If I had one complaint, it would be that they always seem to include an 11mm, but skip a more common size.

The particular set is 10-27,29,30,32-36. I have never needed a 31. However 28 and 38 I have needed. 28 costs $43 by itself and 38 isn't available so I have actually used a HF one to fill in. I'll admit is irritating, but something we have to live with.

I don't love that the impact set skips a couple sizes, but I have those sizes in other sockets. It turns out I've never needed the two sizes my 1/2" deep impact set skips, so it hasn't been an issue for me.

The HF Pro impacts made in Taiwan of cr-mo are a pretty darn good bargain. I've been really happy with them for the price I paid.

I HATE skips.. I hate mixing 1/4" drive sets with 3/8" drive sets like most do with E torx sets. I want one or the other not half and half. End rant.

GW is affordable and they don't skip. Only HF sockets I have is the pro deep impacts and i love them minus the missing 16mm which I do need (thanks to Chrysler)

Years ago, Craftsman didn't include 18mm with their metric sets, but it was available separately. That used to wind my clock up, like others have said, I hate skips. LOL.

Before I brought my 1/2 Pittsburgh Pro impact sets (metric and SAE, shallows) people on here said they skip sizes. The SAE set matched my Kobalt tray perfectly and the Metric set only skipped a couple of oddball sizes that I have not needed...works for me. Best $40 I have ever spent in tools so far.

I don't like skips either. However, I am ok with filling in sizes. I am a little OCD, but for the price/cost savings, I'm not gonna freak too much. A lot of my HF stuff has been filtered through and out. I still have stuff in predominantly 1/2" drive, and a handful of 3/8 stuff in my junkyard box.

With a title like "Harbor Freight question" it's weird to not see a single question mark in the entire original post. Lol

Anyway, yeah I hate it too. But I still buy incomplete sets and fill them in with single sockets to complete the set.

if hf would make a set of their impacts to match up to their plastic holders perfectly i would be on my way over right now to get it. why dont they sell a set like that. a set with matching tray together. that would be a nice set. deeps and shallows with a tray.

You guys would be much happier people if you would just buy a label maker.

One that really bothers me is their metric wrench sets, you really have to hunt for a set with a 16 mm. Yes 16mm is pretty rare, unless you change a lot of oil on Fords. The other one which can be applied to many brands is the lack of 1 3/16". Try working on Waterloo build Deere tractors without one. Yeah it's the same as the pretty common 30mm, but its my OCD point. Would like to get a Martian angle wrench set, but the bastards don't even make a1 5/16" wrench. I actually use that size. This is really a general tool vent as I could give two flying fucks about HF.

I hate skips and avoid sets that have them. HF are certainly not the only sets that skip. Also don't like the argument that skips are rarely used anyways. Cold comfort when the skipped size is the socket or wrench you need.
