Yes, to all that have said that the HF tap and die set is ****, that is my opinion too.
The rest of the saga: I happened to be on my way from a birthday celeb. (step daughter), and knew that I would pass another HF store on the way home. Took the tap and die set in, asked for an exchange......was asked "got your receipt?" I said "no, the set has a lifetime warranty, check your web site, and the label on the new sets that are in stock". A little further discussion and I got a replacement set. The 8x1.5 die in this set does in fact fit an 8x1.5 bolt thread. But they sure seemed to be stuck on the 90 day return, with receipt policy vs "lifetime". Maybe they just got back from a training session, and got conflicting information there. Who knows, but I am still shopping for a USA made set.
