I noticed on the top of a recent receipt that the return policy period is now 90 days instead of 30. Have you guys seen this?

I just checked two receipts from around a month ago and neither of them say anything about the # of days. They both just say "no returns without this receipt"

I saw that a month ago and asked about their Pittsburgh Tool line...which carries a lifetime warranty. Would I need a receipt for a tool bought 5 years ago (good luck on that one!). I was told no... just return the tool and you'll be handed a new one. That's better than the Craftsman where they'll often give you a rebuilt one, or rebuild the broken tool.

Pretty sure that is store dependent though. If you read the back of the box where the warranty info is stated (unless it's changed, very possible) it states you must provide the receipt/proof of purchase. My store will swap it no questions asked but that is because they're a good store.

That depends entirely on what the new version is like.

In most cases, I'd prefer to have my rebuilt old, than a new....

My store takes anything back with no questions asked. I can't tell you how many broken HF tools I have bought at the flea market and went and got new ones in exchange. I even flat out told the manager that I bought these broken at the flea market and he said he didn't care.

Returns are for money back I believe. Like your wife bought you a **** tool you didn't want or you discovered it was the wrong size/unneeded.

Don't think it's the same as warranty exchange.

Homedepot and lowes can just scan your credit card and see when you bought the item and how much you paid, credit back to your card and you walk out. Incredible.

HF is still in the stone ages with their technology for some reason. Considering the majority of the buyers there, it's not surprising they have such a tight policy. I've seen a roofer trying to return shingles that Lowes didn't even carry, with no receipt saying it was a cash purchase (so they couldn't look it up via cc). Some people.

The new policy I was referring to is for getting money back, not warranty.
I do agree that their technology is behind. They got those GREEN screen cash registers.
