I purchased a central pneumatic right angle reversible air drill and the drill only goes on in reverse....? Now the instruction say to turn the knob to the right to make it go in reverse...? I tried turning the know both left and right and it makes no difference. This is very irritating...!! Called up Harbor Freight and did not have a answer. Emailed customer support and waiting for a answer...? Grrr

It looks like the kind where you push it in then twist to lock it.

When I twist there is nothing to lock. My only guess is that the locking screw is designed to lock it into position....?

The knob should pop-out and extend when it's taken from forward to reverse or vice-versa. I forget which is which.

Easy. You push air in to make it go forward, and pull air out to make it go in reverse. Just hook the hose to the intake on your compressor, rather than the exhaust.

:D

Push the knurled button all the way in and turn clockwise until it locks to turn one way and Turn the knurled button counter clockwise until button springs outward to turn the other way.

A lot of them dont lock. Our IR angle drills at work just have a push button you push in that reverses the drill as long as you hold it, then returns to forward when released.

HF's web site list two different SKU numbers and owners manuls for their "CENTRAL PNEUMATIC 3/8 In. Reversible Air Angle Drill":

Both manual's "General Operating Instructions" say

  1. To activate Drill in Reverse, release the Throttle and wait until the drill comes to a complete stop.
  2. Push down on the Reverse Valve and twist to the right to lock.

If the tool doesn't operate correctly when those directions are followed, return it.

So is the knurled know supposed to remain extended when there is air pressure. I have screw holder tang so the knurled nut fully tightened down.

The knurled button should be spring loaded. At rest it should be extended for forward operation. When you push it down, it should reverse the drill.

For locking it into reverse, hold the button down and rotate it. It should stay down once locked. Most will rotate 90deg clocwise to lock when depressed.
