I'm kind of surprised it's not rougher underneath.

If you like it that way, use it that way A dab of vinyl tool dip (or brush-on electrical tape) would also be options if that's still not quite to your taste.

I was surprised as well it's almost like a chrome handle I am not a fan of the plastic handles much easier to keep chome clean and i prefer to feel

Go to HD and buy a Husky screwdriver and redrill the handle to a larger size. Boil and pop that sucker on there. I did that a couple of years ago with a craftsman pro driver, and now it’s one of my most used ratchets.

I like chrome handles on ratchets, but I've got the Gearwrench roto-ratchets and often use them like screwdrivers, or by spinning them by rubbing my hands together (so they quickly freewheel by inertia). For that I like a little bit of rubbery grip. I suspect I'd have hated the HF original grip, too, but at least for me I can see these particular ratchets sometimes benefiting from grippiness.

I am not a fan of the HF Roto but if it works for you have at it. The price is right.

I like my VIP that has a flip out handle so you can use it like a T wrench and it has a locking head feature so when I do use it like a nut drier it does not slip.

I've long thought about replacing the oval handle on my HF ratchets with a more traditional hard handle from Mac or Snap On. Not because I want to hide the fact I have a HF ratchet, I just prefer the shape of other handles more.

This is what I did. Provides a great feel for spinning down a fastener then final tightening. I used a HF ratchet for an inexpensive "test" run. I like the concept but will upgrade from the course HF head soon.

That makes me want to head to HF, grab all three swivel heads, a set of these and start swapping handles.

grind the tangs off and get some alloy pipe to epoxy over the handle stub, you can get original length back or increase it an inch or 2 .
If you got a lathe you can really make some nice fancy metal sleeves for these ratchets.
