Hello all. I am not a poster but I have gotten a lot of good information from this site lately, so I figured it was time for me to give back.

I recently got a Titanium 120 Gasless mig welder from Harbor Freight. Reading the manual, it said that the polarity could not be changed, as it came DCEN from the factory.welder.jpeg.jpg

This was a problem because I had gotten some Flux Core Stainless wire for a exhaust project. (A stainless downpipe....I am going to wrap it with header wrap so looks are not really a concern as much as corrosion resistance and strength.
I opened it up and lo and behold, the wires for the ground clamp and electrode were right up front, proud as could be. Each side panel only had 4 screws, plus 1 screw for each leg. A total of 10 screws.

Using a screwdriver and 10mm socket, I switched the two, leaving the smaller red wire attached to where it was.

Worked like a charm!! Stainless now welds like a dream, reminds me of sizzling bacon.....I did have to turn the heat and wire feed speed up slightly from where I had it. Pipe thicknesses were both the same, 16ga.

Thanks for the post... I wonder if a Switch could be installed to make it even easier.
