I am about ready to go pick up that 44 inch bottom unit everyone raves about. I sure wish they produced a clamshell top like this one:

i would buy the husky one but they dont sell just the top and not in red either.

It would be so nice to have a top like this for all my power chargers and my stereo receiver in the garage.

I'm a fan of those clamshell top boxes too for storing big stuff.

Is there a particular reason you need to close the lid? I ask because I went through the same thought process, but then realized that I really don't need to close the top as it's in my garage and no one else is around. I have the HF 56" and have a few chargers on the top, a speaker, a small miter saw, small air compressor. I just leave the top open.

Unless I'm mistaken, the clamshell is only needed if you plan on closing and securing the stuff on top. Otherwise there really isn't a difference.

True......it would just be nice to close it up to keep things clean. I like that they have holes to run your cords through as well. I suppose it is just cosmetic.

Just be aware that it's not really 44". That measurement includes the handle.
