Have you seen the wings that strengthen the main frame and move the rollers further apart?

The winch motor is a great Idea!!!
I picked up a roller a few months ago. I have a old washing machine motor I was going to fab on it. I bet the speed on the winch is perfect

Davewo, excellent job on the mods to the roller and great work on your projects. I have a roller I bought several years ago at Pattons Steel City (I'd have to look at who the manufacturer is) that I've made a few dies for and hooked up a Milwaukee hole hog set at low speed that really helps get the job done as well. But I like what you did much better, I might just have to follow your lead on that one.

Great write up and modifications to the roller.
What is the diameter of the drive roller and is it a shaft with a single flat or double flats? Also what is the diameter of the idle rollers shaft?
I have an import roller but it's not a harbor freight brand and am wanting to get some different dies for it?

I bought my roller to bend some 2 inch round bar table legs about 88* and roll a ring for a foot rest.
16 gage exhaust pipe didn't work well.
Is this machine capable of bending the above items?? with 2 inch EMT conduit

I've added the SWAG wing plates to my roller. And I have the bottle jack adapter to replace the top screw.
I've also built an adapter to use the HF electric pipe threader to drive it. It's not real pretty but it works.
The pipe threaders have an 8 sided "socket" the threading dies plug into.
I haven't put this to lot of use yet but this is the project it is slated to help me with.

You even found a use for one of those hand drill to drill press adapters sold back from the 1970s, using it as a angle grinder chop saw. Lots of bonus credits for that!
I have a boat load of unistrut. I was wanting to mount it on the ceiling in a U shape. Install rollers in the track attached to couple hanging bill board signs (big sheet of vinyl) to be used as a curtain for painting cars/equipment.
Kinda like the curtains around a hospital bed. A curtain on each side meeting in the middle. When not in use, they would be secured to the wall at the open end of the "U".
The track would have to be heavy to support a vinyl bill board sign. The light weight stuff like the hospitals use wouldn't handle the weight and jerking of the curtain.

Correct. They do make a big difference when using the jack screw. I also put their bottle jack conversion on mine which makes it almost no effort at all.

Dave,I am looking for more information on the winch modifications , I agree the winch looks more like a part of the roller than the threader. I have the winch apart and I am hesitant to weld on the diecast looking gear to connect it to the roller . Any thoughts or photos or direction on this part of the modification? Thank you for your time . likedoldiron
