Which "under hood" light?

I bought the one shown below and it's junk. The fluorescent tube won't stay in the socket and the clear cover won't stay latched, so it either comes open or the light goes off. One for the HF fail thread.

looking closely at the photo, that light does not come with the hangers that every other under hood light I have ever seen has.
I just see two hooks.

From the product description:

120 bright white LED lamps
Detachable magnetic stretch cord ends for flexible attachment options
Recessed fold-away hooks

Rechargeable Li-ion battery
Shatterproof polycarbonate tube
Two brightness settings
Comes with 12V cigarette lighter adapter and 120V wall adapter

Hey, for a few bucks, buy it and try it. If it isn't working for you, HF has a generous return policy.

It has the hooks on both ends, they unscrew and are attached with 6" bungees. A friend of mine bought one and it turns on lol but it isn't very bright. For the cost it isn't bad but compared to the $200 lights, it doesn't hold a candle to them...

Not a fan of HF cordless, but might be ok... I'd have to agree that it probably doesn't hang with the better lights

when it's on sale worth the $$. Charge only lasts a it an hour or so
If u turn it on then plug it in it works.
If u try to turn it on after being plugged in it doesn't turn on.
Still not as good as my ATD plug in led underhood I bought in amazon.

I have a couple and am not really impressed. I use them for overall lighting and use a hand held source for proper light. I expected them to be better.

I have the plug in model, it beats lighting a candle, but not by much. Too dim even for the dim witted.

As an under hood light, it's not that great but it's $25 with a coupon so it was worth a try for me. The light is very concentrated so I ghetto rigged a diffuser mod to help it spread the light out. It's still not good but much better than before. The output pictures you see in the link below do it more justice than it deserves but it was the best picture I could take. I would take away about 25% of the light at the top and bottom. It comes out pretty bright in the picture but isn't usable light in practice. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=237897&highlight=underhood+light&page=2

I recently looked at that one. The reviews are not very good, so I decided to pass. There is a smaller one sold at sears for twenty bucks on sale. I have that one, it is decent, but not outstanding. My choice for the larger is still the long fluorescent 110v. I would love a cordless version though.
