I have been increasing my tool collection and I am out growing my US General Black 4 Drawer Cart. I have settled on a US General 44 tool box, because it is the best bang for your buck after inspecting all my options in the price range. The only thing stopping me is the RED! It is a classic tool box color but just not my cup of tea.
I know I could just paint it to my liking, but it seems silly to paint a brand new powder coated finish. The older 44" tool box came in a wrinkle black finish. Why don't the new finish tool boxes come in a black option?

I don't know why they discontinued the black, but I wish they still made it too. I gave up hoping and picked up a red 44" during the parking lot sale the other week.

You can get a kodiak that is very similar in a textured black. Few more bucks but save the hassle of painting. I have one and would buy another for my current proctect but I can't do a red either

From a companys point of view... It is sooo much easier to manage stock
levels when there are no variations on a particular model.

From the factorys point of view... One single colour bought in bulk, one single
paint or powder coating process... No down time while you switch to a different
colour... Much easier to manage orders and quantity.

All these things add up to a lower price point for the customer.

Doesn't someone offer the same thing with a different brand name (I think it's mastercraft)? I think that's the case. But you'll end up paying more than the price of a new paint job (if you're doing it yourself).
