Looks like they finally released the 72" Top Chest. Thoughts on it?

https://www.harborfreight.com/search?q=us general 72in top chest

Seems pricey at $950 for just the top box. Personally, I'd prefer a hutch over a top chest as I like having the work surface in my tiny garage. Has anyone heard any mention of a hutch being released for the regular US General line and not just the Icon line?

Also, not sure if I'm a fan of the drawer layout being identical to the bottom. Would be kinda nice to maybe half a few rows be split down the middle for variety.

I searched but didn't find anything. Mods, please feel free to delete if it's a complete rehash.

Ya beat me to it. I just saw this pop up in my HF email feed also.

If this rolled out two years ago, I would have grabbed a 72" bottom and top. Instead I grabbed a 72" Frontier top & bottom from Rural King.

I think the HF has a little more steel to it than my set, but for the $$$, my Frontier serves me well for house hold use.

FWIW - the Frontier box has a similar drawer layout. While varied drawer widths may be more practical for some, having the drawer dividers in alignment is more aesthetically pleasing.

I have a co-worker who has the 72" bottom and said when the 72" top comes out he wants to get it. I am going to buy his current 56" top if he actually buys the 72" top. Once he gets it I will let everyone know what he thinks about it. (He actually keeps them at our shop)

Oh yeah, I noticed how aesthetically pleasing it looks right away which is what reminded me that they didn't add any different drawer sizes :lol_hitti

I can't say I've ever seen a Frontier box in person. There are only 2 Rural Kings in Michigan and neither is close to me. Glad to hear they're working out well for you though. I think most of us want a lot more box than we actually need for home hobbyist use, but it's hard not to when you see how sturdy and rugged some of the higher end boxes are! That thread about the Tekton Rousseau box made me more than a little envious.

Please report back if he actually buys the top! Will be curious to know how it fares and how he finds using it. I thought about a 56" box for a while, partially because of the form factor (I have a small garage) and also because a top was available (unlike the 72") but I guess now that last point is moot.

Gonna see if there's one at my local HF when I go to pick some stuff up in the next week or two.

I purchased the 72 inch lower around the first part of November. They had upper and lower on display in green. Wow it was monstrous.
