HF V-Twin Compressor head for 106$ out the door with the 2 year replacement

With the 20% off and its on sale already. I went and got it today, for the price how bad can it be. Oh, and the description on the internet is wrong. Its Cast Iron not aluminum. Its 15.1 CFM @ 40 PSI, 13.5 @ 90 and 12.3 @ 115. I will let you all know how it goes. I will hopefully get it mounted some time this week. -Ben.

I'm using a 5 HP WEG brand motor. It's a 3450 rpm motor. I'm using a 4.5" drive pulley and the compressor pump has a 14.5" pulley. This puts the pump speed at 1,070 RPM.

sweet, I think my pulley is a 4.5 that is on the motor already. I was in a friends shop about a year ago and was looking at his Campbel Hosfield 60 gallon compressor and noticed that the same compressor that was on his 60 gallon is on my dads 30 gallon. I told him if anything ever happened to his compressor, I wanted his tank, He said sure. Well, he forgot to turn it off overnight and his hose blew up and the compressor threw a rod. He sold me the tank and motor for 100 bucks and I took it home and put dads compressor on it. Well, I am moving out of my dads shop now and got to give back his compressor. I was looking at a new US made unit but they are painfully expensive. Even the stock replacement that came on the compressor is painful. The ****** part is that the original was made in the U.S.A. but the replacement is not and its still like 400 bucks. It makes me feel better that someone else has already taken the plunge on this thing. Its ether this or I will just buy a whole new unit. Thanks for the input!

Wow, nearly 2 years ago to the day my compressor head stopped building pressure. It sounds like one of the reeds broke. Its blowing air out of the intake. I paid the 15 bucks for 2 years free replacement so no big deal. I decided to keep my old pully off of the pump because I know it fits my belt. I'm glad because they changed to the smaller v-belt, The old unit was the big v. They didn't say anything about it at the store. I figured if they asked I would give them the new one but they didn't so I have 2 now. The girl at the register asked me if I wanted the 2 year free replacement for 35$. Yep, I replied. The pump is 179 regular price now, I paid 89 for mine on sale. It looks to be a new manufacturer because its a little different. Black, not gray, V-belt size, and the outlet is on the opposite cylinder from the first unit. I have to plumb it in and get some oil. The bolt pattern is the same thank god. I will get it plumbed and running and re-post a verdict on the new unit.

Do you have a link for this or is it just a local sale?

Apparently this compressor has a big problem with the filters being sucked into the pump. I have looked at this pump to use for a replacement on a compressor I use out of the shop. But reading the reviews on their site I passed on it.

They have another pump which is their 3 hp model and the specifications on their website is definitely incorrect. They show the pump to have a 1 inch stroke but the box indicates it has a 1.97 inch stroke. After doing some math, I determined that the delivery CFM rate is impossible for that pump. I am assuming that the delivery CFM rate is incorrect for the V-twin pump as well. Harbor freight in my opinion is using fuzzy math on the specifications of their pumps. The other thing is that those pumps are not even used on the US general compressors.

I decided to purchase the Eaton/Emax pump instead. It cost a little more but it is a much better pump.

The spray gun I bought has 3-4 different max psi's listed, both on the box, manual, and web site.

I've not had any luck with my V-Twin pump. One cylinder just won't pump very good. I've took it apart and it looks fine. Re positioned the rings but no good. I may have mixed up the plates that hold the Reid valves but unless the 1 jug has been rotated 180 and made a problem there?? I'm going to try this but I'm going to wait to see if anyone here has a answer. I ordered a set of rings but they sent 48mm instead of 50mm. >??

I've got one...I did have to replace the reed plates and gaskets....In the Florida humidity, I'll proabably have to do this every 3-5 years..The parts aren't very expensive and it's an easy fix...HF does have a problem with their shipping, as they threw all of my parts in a big envelope, instead of packing the gaskets with cardboard...If you ever order parts, you might want to consider ordering an extra set of gaskets...
