Depends on the person you happen to talk with when you walk in the store that day. Some will replace them, no questions asked, while others will require a receipt.

worst case scenario buy another, use that receipt to replace/return the broken one or keep both. Most employees probably won't even ask you for a receipt.

Supposedly there's Pittsburgh and then there's Pittsburgh Pro.

There is, but the warranty is the same. Don't take any bull from a cashier if they're not willing to replace it on the spot. Just talk to the manager.
I've NEVER had to present a receipt for ANY house brand tool at any store, but I have seen a LOT of employees who didn't even realize that some particular brand was specific to their store.

I ran into this question last time I was at HF. I asked the store manager and they said.... Due to the people that are buying tools at flea markets and garage sales that are broke; for the newer tools they will be required to have a receipt for exchange on such items: drills, power items, etc. But that they are also supposed to require a receipt for hand tools also from now on, but that the stores are being leinient to the policy because you can only buy HF tools at HF.

After that conversation was over with the gentleman in front of me, I then asked the store manager.....what about all the older stuff that was purchased??? I bought the 16pc wrench sets years ago and didn't keep the receipts. He said, for all the existing purchases we are going to do our best to replace as we did in the past, no questions asked.

So hopefully this wont impact anything we have previously purchased, but hang onto those receipts for the new stuff......dont really see this being a bg deal as everyone else is pretty much asking you to hang onto receipts also. I have a manila envelope in my deep drawer with all my receipts in it. no problems so far.

Keep your receipts? hahaha...I must be the only person I know that actually does that. I even had receipts for tools I bought 45 years ago. They were lost/stolen when we had a theft at the garage...

For the most part I believe its similar to snap on in that they say they require a receipt, but usually don't ask

I like to try and forget how much I've spent.

I wore out an orange deadblow hammer after almost a year of hard use and abuse. I knew id break it, i use it hard. But there was no questions asked, the lady just said to get a new one from the rack. I also wore out the hog ring on my 3/8 impact. I suspect it was from jamming on chrome extensions. But she said she couldnt warranty it without a receipt. But she did offer to sell me an extended warranty for 20 dollars, Which i figured was cheaper than a new impact, so i took that.

I was happy with those warranty experiences.

I had the vinyl wear off the handles of a wrench, took it in and was told no because the tool still works and I could just go buy some plasti-dip in aisle 234. I asked if they would just give me the dip to fix my tool that wasn't broke and again was told no. So I bought a new one and returned the bad one next time I was there...
