Today I purchased the 44" HF box for $360 with a coupon in the store. I went online to order some socket organizers and decided to try out a coupon for one of the free pieces of **** they hand out. Instead of the code applying to the **** thing in the cart it took 7.99 off the tray. I tried another code and it took another 7.99 off a tray. I then added some random things and used more codes and it took the complete price off everything I added under $10.

Try it out for yourself... I got a ton of cool stuff for $25. Check out the receipt, the codes are listed on it:

Well, I don't feel really good about myself, but...

72262373
and
91532306

worked for me.

Other codes in OP said either "not valid" or "only one code per SKU".

I was wanting to try the stubby swivel-head ratchets. So, I added all three to the cart + 2 drawer organizers. The first code gave me the 1/2" stubby ratchet for free (-$13.99). The second code gave me the 1/4" stubby ratchet for free (-$9.99). In hindsight, the codes seemed to work in order of how I placed the items in the cart. My theory is that if I had placed the 3/8" stubby ratchet in the cart second, the second code would've gave me it for free instead... hmm...this all sounds familiar to me....is this an old bug that has returned?

I only ordered things that I really wanted in case they catch and fix the error and either cancel or charge at full price...

It looks like you can add a single item, add the coupon and it shows up for $0.00 with free shipping to boot. I cannot imagine they are going to let this fly.

I added a $240 saw to the cart and used the code... my current total now shows as $0.02 BARGAIN!

Well, I thought about getting a work cart (which would have cost $100 shipping), but I really don't have the room for it, so I got something I actually NEEDED, which was a halogen work light on a stand. Plus the shipping was free. Total cost -- zero. And if it turns out this is a mistake, I haven't spent too much ($35).

I didn't check out because it just don't feel right.

HF online does sometimes have a human intervene. I got busted using a 20% coupon on a clearance 6.5 hp motor a couple years back. My guess is the warehouse pickers/packers see prices and say "huh, whatzis?" :D

They are not as polite and forgiving as amazon or even walmart either. Don't believe it until you get the fedex tracking.

I did the same thing. It just does not seem ethical to me so I could not bring myself to try to take advantage of someone elses error. Obviously someone who handles their website made a rather large mistake.

To each their own---I am not trying to say anything negative about the people that have taken advantage of it. Everyone has differring opinions and values. Its just not something that I feel comfortable with. :)

Well, the way I look at it, they've gotten plenty of my money through the years. I didn't order anything expensive. And who's to say that it wasn't a nifty HF marketing gimmick?

The day is not complete without one good rationalization! :bounce:

I just paid $360 for the tool box and I have spent plenty of money there in the past. It's a system that they put in place so I don't feel bad at all. I'll keep everyone posted with if they ship my order or not.

im in for a tap and die set... its not ethical but if we dont take advantage of it some "non tool lovers" on slickdeals.net will find it and buy to resell or whatever.

Just got two emails first one says on hold for coupon error then 30 minutes later saying my debit was not authorized. It was worth a shot anyway

Yeah, I got the same e-mail: order on hold due to a "system coupon error". Then I got another e-mail saying that my credit card was not authorized -- a lie -- and that they tried unsuccessfully to contact me -- another lie (I gave my cell phone number and have had the phone with me all day). I understand that they screwed up, and I don't blame them for cancelling the order (a piddling $35.00), but they didn't have to lie about it. Just man up and admit the truth.

Most of the time all we hear is hate (or pretend hate) for HF and the cheap chinese goods they sell. Then we get all excited to get the chinese goods for almost free. Strange world.
