No offense intended, but that really looks like a POS to me. Maybe strong enough for a sewing table of sorts.

But to answer your question, if I had to make that base be collapsible I'd just remake it with that as one of the design goals. Perhaps make the upper leg telescope into the lower assembly and pin the lower frames so they could swing closed. Then you could rotate the top ninety degrees to make the whole thing flat and pretty compact.

It does fold flat. I have one and it is handy as hell. I've been paid to weld for 44 years and this is a nice light duty table. For small projects it will serve you well.

Anyone figured out a good way to clamp to it? The slots have a downturn flange that interferes with clamps

I have one, just used it Saturday to plasma cut some holes in some plate. I like it a lot for the money. I'm pretty sure the legs fold up, mine isn't folded though as I use it to keep my cutoff saw on when not in use. Unless you have scrap laying around, I'm not sure you could build one for cheaper.

Not a POS, it is a solid welding table. If you think its only strong enough for a sewing machine, you must have one hellavuh sewing machine;)

I have the same table...

The legs fold, just push them together. Then you need to unscrew the hand knobs and push the top into a vertical position. It's not perfectly flat, but it stories nicely on a wall hook if you need it out of the way.

I will also say, that for the money it's a nice table. It's no Miller Arc Station, but it's also $50 after coupon. It's the same table eastwood charges 2x for. It's sturdy enough and if you're limited on space it works well to double as a work surface.

As for clamps, I've used c-clamps and they have worked fine.

I just purchased this thing and I really like, all based on various threads
here.
http://www.harborfreight.com/adjustable-steel-welding-table-61369.html

But throughout the various threads on this topic, I haven't found (unless I
missed it) a way to make the legs fold up, ie, together, to better store it
without taking up floor space.

Has anyone modified their HF table to make the legs fold up?

The legs do fold together, did You over tighten the bolts for the legs ?

Duh! Bingo! I had the bolts pretty tight and the holes for the bolts didn't exactly line up so once I made some adjustments, they fold nicely.
Thanks!

Have one, nice table for the $. It's not the Miller table, but it's not the Miller price either. As for wimpy, I dunno - had 100 lbs of cylinder heads on it no problem. I made a little cover out of leftover hardboard and 1x2 material so I can use it as a temporary portable bench. I just loosen the threaded handles under the table and it folds up and lays against the wall. If the legs don't fold, the bolts are too tight.

That HF table is currently $69,, are there coupons that can be used in addition to this?

You can always get a 20% off code. Should be on their site somewhere. If not just a quick Google should find one.

The problem I had with the table it wobbles. When your TiG welding and you shift your weight and the table moves it messes up your weld. the bolt that the table top rotates on elongates the hole that passes through the leg. Yes I could over size the hole and put in a bushing.
But the better solution was to buy the Miller table, which I am very happy with. The clamps are very useful the table is thick enough that when it gets hot it does not distort.

On 12-4-15 I paid 59.99 with a coupon.

Used it just enough to know that it works great for My needs.

It's probably not the right platform for delicate work like TIG, but for MIG it's fine. Especially if it's relatively crude work. It's no Miller, but I suppose I could paint it blue :)

The wobble issue I fixed by wrapping on corner in duct tape to add thickness to level it.

I have one best $59 I ever spent. I found myself using it in my attached garage because it's sturdy and right height for me to work on anything. I had to buy a second one to put back in my shop.

There is nothing wrong with these tables. Certainly not super heavy duty, but easy to fold and move around. It works very well for putting a second one together on it. Close enough to the Nomad version to have two and still not spend as much.
