I have a 30x50 shop im trying to heat. I am in the process of insulating it now. It has 14ft walls and does not have a ceiling yet. I saw those wood stoves and wondered if they could put out enough heat?

I had one in a 2 1/2 car garage.....it didn't put out enough heat to keep it warm, and I had to run my torpedo heater with it......not really sure what your starting temp is, but I live in the Buffalo area, and from about 10 or 15 deg F I could only get the garage up to at best 35......ALSO this was about 5 years ago, it is possible the ones today are better, hopefully someone with a little newer experience will answer also

maybe I will just put up a temporary plastic ceiling to help with the heating issue. right now I am using 2 double tank top heaters on top of 100 gal. tanks. I think they would work better if i had a ceiling because the heat goes right up and out of the roof vents.

I have no insulation and use a barrel stove for now in my 30x40. I did do a 4mil plastic on the ceiling to help keep the heat in. Today it was 20 and with barrel stove burning and torpedo heater on every so often it stays about 50 or so.

Did the plastic ceiling help that much?

It did make a difference for what it cost to do. I have 10' ceiling and also added a 60" ceiling fan to help keep the heat moving.
