I'm a Canadian vacationing here in America. I'm going to Harbor Freight in an hour or so, what should I buy?
There should be a semi colon after " ....or so", not a comma. There are two complete, stand alone sentences there.

I buy the alkaline batteries in the multi-packs when I get the 4.99 coupons. They seem to work as good as any other brand and helluva lot cheaper.
+1. Better. My last batch of Duracells leaked all over the place.

They also leak more than any other brand. I quit buying them, not worth having to tear things down and clean them. There for a while they were putting free battery pack coupons in the flyers and I never used a single one.
Funny, I just switched to them because Duracells leaked so badly. I have read that the problem is common with alkalines, in general. I am open to recommendations if somebody knows of a less leaky brand.

sooooo close, but nope. The comma should be a semicolon. The rule is if both halves of the sentence divided by the comma could be complete sentences on their own use a semicolon instead.

I think the store's name is still wrong too. Isn't it supposed to be Horrible Fright?:dunno:

But, seriously, folks, I have one of their 20 ton presses and it works very well. I use it rather seldom so I mounted it on casters (heavy duty ones!) so I can move it out of its hidey hole easily.

Dang, 6pt beat me to the semicolon correction.

Well, if you are on the west coast and going to, say, Washington, I'd take advantage of the recreational laws, and get some pot. The high will certainly outlast anything from HF, and there won't be any remorse once the high wears off. If a different state, probably a 6 pack of a good IPA. Again, the high will last longer, but unfortunately, there may be a little queasiness the next day. But at least the queasiness will only last a day. HF induced quesiness always manages to last months to years with me every time I make the mistake of spending my money there.

Wow, have you guys seriously not seen that ad before? It has been around for years now.

Yes, kinda - there are several (maybe "numerous") versions, and every time I see one I find something new. In this one, for instance, I'm pretty sure I hadn't seen the hydraulic nail unbender or Bono safety glasses before.
Always good for a giggle & groan.

You have got to be kidding. On a discussion board full of mangled English like:

to/too/two
there/their/they're
your/you're
have/of

and the topper "horizontal/vertical"

You're going to bust his chops over hear/here?

At least the word he used sounded like what he meant. He also used some punctuation instead of a paragraph-long run-on sentence.

Whist not a true answer to the originally posted question, a true statement none the less and packed with appropriate content which leads into great humor and a sad commentary of a certain percentage said subscribers to the GJ.

Now, to answer the question: there are many good items to be found at HF. Most of the above mentioned items are good choices. If you need moving blankets, then this is the place to buy them. The uses of these are endless. The Professional screwdrivers are great buy and the impact sockets and accessories are good as well. The 4.5 Green label cut-off wheels are a great buy. Retractable hose reel, microfiber clothes because you can never have to many, disposable single edge razor blades, the red velcro wraps, nitrile gloves, assorted casters, 20 ton press, all kinds of stuff

When I posted it this time I noticed some of the part numbers...The chainsaw for example. Get it?

I haven't bought disposable batteries for years. Rechargeables have more power, and I have about 20 in AA/AAA and they all work well. Haven't had to toss one yet.

I have about 10 HF branded ones, and the rest are Panasonic Eneloop and Rayovac.

http://www.harborfreight.com/pack-of-4-high-capacity-nimh-rechargeable-aa-batteries-97866.html

My charger is a Rayovac branded one and charges both AA and AAA.

Every rechargeable I've seen has a lower voltage than alkalines as do those.Alkalines are 1.5v. Those are 1.2
That might be ok for you but I'll pass.
