Hard Cases for Dewalt tools

Hey all,
I like to keep things fairly neat in the garage. I buy dewalt cordless power tools. I had to run to buy a sawzall the other day, and after I got all done using it, etc. I realized that it doesn't have a hard case. Neither does my little impact driver. I want to buy a 1/2 inch cordless impact... that again doesn't have a hard case. I have all my tools in their cases on a shelf labeled with a silver sharpie so they are easy to identify, and easy to store. I looked and there literally is no hard case for some of these items. Am I not looking hard enough? Who the hell wants 20 soft bags with their tools... you cant stack them up or store them in any manner, and I keep everything locked in the cabinet when I'm not in the garage so one of those wall organizer things is not an option. Am I the only one that has a problem like this, or is this a known thing and I just live in a hole?

Thanks

Ryan

I've modified a Porter-Cable case for my cordless drill and little impact; a Snap-On impact case for my DeWalt impact and Milwaukee rotary tool and ratchets; a Lincoln cordless grease gun case for my Makita die grinder; and a couple of DeWalt cordless drill cases for Makita and DeWalt corded drills. It's a mishmash, but they fit. Most cases have come from the trash at work or my old neighborhood.

I pick up discarded cases and paint them the correct color. In my case red for Milwaukee. I also made a template with the Milwaukee logo just for grins. Type of tool is marked in silver pen so it can be read from it's stacked location.

Many tools are sold without hard cases. It's just the way it is.

I don't personally use them even if the tool comes with one because they take up too much room. But if you have the space, I see where the organizational utility comes in.

We throw those hard cases in the recycling bin as soon as we get the tools at work. I have a couple I can send you if you pay shipping

I threw mine away years ago, but they were quite handy when I didn't have a proper tool chest.

I guess that would free up some space in my current box..

Sometimes I take a particular tool to the store and try it in all the tool boxes available. I also modify the insides of other cases to fit a tool and all the blades/tools that go with it. A heat gun and your multi-tool work great for this. I do a lot of work at other places so most of my power tools are in cases.

For the sawzall, the small Dewalt Tough System box is perfect. My Super Sawzall is one of the tools that I actually do have the original hard case, i almost wish i didn't as I would use the toughsystem instead. That same box can hold depending on size 2-5 drill type of tools with various battery charger accessories bits etc. And if you use dewalt cordless stuff anyway they make a charger that just stacks onto them

I lucked out a few years back when we were moving out of our building at work. The Library had a trash cart full of those metal A/V gear cases they were tossing out. I got 7 or 8 of them. I keep my Porter Cable grinders in them, palm router, hand planes, etc.

Another alternative is cheap gun cases or some of the Apache cases from HF?
