Are these kinds of things america only? I asked my snap-on man about the re release of the snap-on hard handle screwdrivers and he knew nothing about it. Its obvious snap-on is selling this stuff on their screwdrivers and ratchets but only limitedly but are they oneday soon hopefully going to be giving buyers a choice between say the hard handle and the current instinct handles?

I think that they are just doing what several of us have been doing, take a dual-80 ratchet and instead of a comfort-grip handle, install a "hard" handle...

All that is needed is to drill the handle bore hole to the appropriate size...

I need to make another one for myself, I made up a nice 3/8 dual-80 flex head one w/yellow handle and gave it to my buddy, as a bday present.

I too am a sucker for all those pretty colors, LOL!

I took an FHLF80, removed the handle and fitted a black hard handle. Then i mailed it to a friend in the US. It never arrived, that was almost a year ago. :(

Ouch, that *****, Moose.

I never ship anything (particularly, international) without insurance...it really is cheap and worth it when these things happen...and things DO happen...

I shipped a pair of cylinder heads to Norway several years ago, didn't insure. What could happen, right?

The carrier informed me that they were lost when several containers came off of the deck of the ship during a storm in the northern atlantic.

What part numbers are you using for the replacement handles? I'd love to make some blue dual 80s.

WHAT!?:shocking: i WAS wondering if i needed anything from the truck this week.....Guess i got my answer!:bounce:

I need to move my truck day to Monday. Todays my day and i bet they're gone already! He knows what i buy and puts stuff aside for me but he DOES have another green guy on his route that gets visited earlier in the week. Oh well...

By matching box you mean color matched to the ratchets?:headscrat

Just got back to the office from the truck. He held both the 1/4 and 3/8's for me:bounce:. I will admit he didnt seem to "know" about the micro chest deal. Since i texted him yesterday about it he inquired about how i knew about them since he only got them in today. After giving the GJ update he pulled the chest from the top shelf and i was on my way.

Got to admit though if he still has the orange ones next week im taking em'!! Along with the SHR80A i had him put aside for me. Only had one in stock!

Pretty neat box, What does the inside look like? Is there drawers in it or is it just a box?

It's a 3 drawer top chest.

...better pics

Ouch, that *****, Moose.

I think it upset me more than my mate. What upset me was that the ratchet was a token of appreciation for all the help he'd given me, which was priceless. And my gift to him vanished. :(

Someone, somewhere has a very nice FHLF80, which they shouldn't have. :(

I never ship anything (particularly, international) without insurance...it really is cheap and worth it when these things happen...and things DO happen...

It was insured. However, to get it to him without customs charges the insured/declared value was lower than the actual value. :(

I shipped a pair of cylinder heads to Norway several years ago, didn't insure. What could happen, right?

The carrier informed me that they were lost when several containers came off of the deck of the ship during a storm in the northern atlantic.

Yikes, what did that cost?

Containers going over happens quite a bit more often than you might think. Unfortunately its usually not anything shallow enough to go dive in and explore. Sure would be fun though.

Its nice to see Snapon get a clue about what the customers want; it makes you wonder if the pics of people modifying their ratchets with hard handles, on this board made them take notice! :)

you're welcome. i kept telling the product manager that these would be hot and he listened well. now to make them an everyday purchasable product...

might be more to come, I did see the quick release s80a and the sh80a.

My shr80a should be here this week. :bounce: One of the few times I've seen something new become available on Canadian SO trucks around the same time that it is on the US trucks. Maybe there's hope for me getting a set of the hard handle ratchets yet!

Ok so final answer on the part number of the 1/4 and 3/8 is...?

just put R in the part number for the comfort handled ratchets as shown below. replace r with O or G for orange and green. not sure if there's a part number on the "deal with the 2 ratchets and micro box.

No packaged set available to my knowledge. The part numbers, just add a D before the 80 or the 72.

FHD80R for the red handled 3/8 drive.
THLD72R for the 1/4 drive in red.
etc...

Not sure of what all ratchets are coming with the hard handles.

There is no part number for the package. All items were shipped and billed seperately to the dealers in the US that ordered this promo several months ago. If I had to guess, this promo was not offered in Canada.
