I hear ya...not much warmer here. Although yesterday we did have a 40 degree day! Times like this I only work in there when I HAVE to....like last night and tonight, slave cyl in the commuter car...but if this has taught me one thing and confirmed one thing...this summer there WILL BE HEAT installed in the shop. PERIOD!

Dang Ted.........two whiner threads! Just kidding of course. I'm sure glad I didn't win the contract I bid on up there, for this very reason. Getting much colder today in VA but not close to what you guys are dealing with in this stretch. Glad my shop is heated!

Cant work in the attic either!

After noticing my roof doesnt keep much snow on it, my attic is either A) perfectly insulated and vented or B) something is allowing massive amounts of hot air up there

My chances for A are slim to none, so once "spring" gets here I will be removing all batt insulation, spray foaming all penetrations and blowing in Attic Cat before putting the batt insulation back in.

I wanna whine about the weather too... It's been bouncing between 30 and 80 here for about a month and a half. But about 11am yesterday it started raining and about 1pm it got cold. Real cold. By 7pm all the roads we're frozen solid and by 10pm they had cancelled all schools in the area. Which is good for me Cuz I get a day off. Lol. But still yet I woke up to abouth an inch and a half of solid ice on everything. And it's still precipitating.

Even with the forced air furnace in my shop my back won't let me work out there for more then an hour or so. I keep the shop at 50/52 degree's but the cold soaks into my bones throught the slab. Once my back starts to tighten up I'm done...

It was in the high 20's Saturday. It felt good to get outside and get some stuff done. Once it hits the 40's its gonna feel like a heat wave.

I have decided to install a gas heater this fall after this cold *** winter we experienced.

Two weekends ago I installed a vacuum solenoid, 4x4 transfer case encoder motor, two IWEs, front upper and lower ball joints, 2 rear axle seals and rotors and pads all the way around on a 2005 F150 Super Crew Lariat.

Wore layers and was a bit cold but attached garage wasn't below zero like outside since insulated, but still cold.

Well we are having a record winter here in Oregon. Setting records for how warm it is!! I had to Mow the yard in a t shirt on Saturday! As nice as the weather is all the bulbs are coming up, when it cools down again, if we have a freeze it will kill off a lot of people's gardens for sure.

A couple years ago I insulated, ran a gas line and put a sub panel in the garage. I keep it about 40 degrees when I'm not out there and turn it up to about 65 When I'm working out there. Its nice no more sweating tools, paint freezing etc.

Heat is a necessity in the Chicago area. My old bones wont take the extra cold for long anymore. Maintaining half a dozen vehicles outside or in an unheated space is not any fun.
Anyone recognize this?

Talk of your cold
Through the parkas fold
It stabbed like a driven nail
If our eyes we closed
then the lashes froze
til somes we couldn't see
It wasn't much fun
But the only one to wimper was ... .....

The temps have been down to the single digits last week here, and then yesterday it was 60. Today we're back to 40s for a high and into the 20s at night. The worst part has been the wet weather with no sun. Honestly hpw you guys in the PNW don't want to kill yourself is beyond me. The grey, gloomy, rainy, overcast **** is driving me crazy.

I'm sooooo ready for spring!

-10 was a record?

Iowa
Wow.....I rode my motorcycle last year in -14....the windchill was -30 something. Those are common temps in winter.

I have a salamander heater I use if I HAVE to work in the garage....but my buddy lives a block away and is garage is insulated and has a wood stove in it (and a hoist).....so thats usually where I go if I need to spend more than 30 mins doing something and its below 20 degrees.

-20 here with windchill. Actual temps tonight are gonna be -5.
I find I get the condensation from using either my Mr Heater Hero or the Dayton kerosene "bullet" heater. The temperature differential "shock" causes condensate on everything. Hoping by next year to have some sort of electric set up to keep it at 40 (I can work in there with a sweatshirt @ 40 degrees) then fire up the Mr Heater to get it warm and toasty.

maybe just for whatever day they listed that for. i'm a little south of grand rapids where that forcast is from and it was -24 last week. not sure what the wind chill was on top of that

-24 dude is way cold at 4pm here in Muskegon which is 35miles west of G.R.
it was 25 degrees but at noon it was way colder then that with 40 mph winds with snow the wind has died down here and 20degrees is way better then a minus temp, hopefully we don't get are spring at the end of April

Latley its been anywhere from 6 to 12 degrees C here in Southern Europe. Its pretty cold especially when you have to open the garage door to let your truck run for 20 minutes. I guess when you get older the colder weather effects you more.

I am with ya on the getting older seems like things do get a little tougher, seems like the colder weather just has a way of getting to ya a little more

I was just about to complain that we have had 2 days in a row without getting above freezing until I read this thread. I don't know how any of y'all get anything done without a heater!

It was kinda nice today, in the upper 20s low 30s. So I got the truck washed and started putting a backup camera in the tailgate. Got the camera mounted. Then the shade from the house came, then the temps dropped, then the wind came, I was very happy to get the wires inside the cab and quite for the day. Really it was the lack of sun and the wind as it is still 26 out.

Heat works in my garage, except my Audi is up on jack stands in it.
I need to work on two other vehicles.
Need to get my Blue ***** at least rolling so I can move it.
I took full advantage of the 33 degree F weather a couple of days ago but we dropped back down to near 0 temps with lots of wind. The canopy I have in front of the garage is fine when there's no wind but when it picks up, it just moves all the warm air out of it.

Ted,
Here's the solution.

They have these (In different sizes) 20% off at Lowes til the 2nd.

Use your Lowes card for a 5% additional discount for the heater and items needed to hook it up.

Or use a 10% moving or military discount.

Got my 50K for $309.60. Then spent $250 for all the hookup stuff.

I would kill for a garage lol. I'm a mobile trailer mechanic and we have had some days like that -10 with the wind blowing and my *** is under a trailer changing a valve with my gloves off in the middle of a parking lot lol. That's why I grow a beard and am glad I have back hair :)

This has been the first calendar month since February 1978 that it has not climbed above the freezing point at all here in Toronto. I'm not complaining much, I'd rather have this cold than the snow that PEI or Boston has.

We have had the snow and the cold. I don't like either.

i think a lot of places that don't usually get weather this have got pounded this year, i wish it would do a 180...lol
